The biggest cricket league in the world, Indian Premier League will be back for its 16th season in 2023 and the much-awaited IPL auction event will take place this month. All the teams are set to undergo another revamp after last year’s mega auction. Let’s take a look at the details of the upcoming IPL Auction 2023.
A total of 991 players registered for the upcoming IPL auction but a latest BCCI release has revealed that 405 players will go under hammer to fill the remaining 87 slots. Out of 87 free slots, 30 slots are reserved for the overseas players.
The top bracket of players will have a base price of INR 2 crore. 19 overseas players will feature in this top bracket. The next two brackets are priced at INR 1.5 crore and INR 1 crore.

The IPL auction for the 2023 season will take place on 23rd December, 2022 in Kochi, Kerala. The venue for the auction event is yet to be announced. According to the latest information, the auction will begin at 02:30 PM (IST).
The 16th season of the cash rich tournament will kick-off around the end of March, 2023. The 2 new teams will feature in their 2nd season IPL season which makes the auction much more exciting.

Viacom18 has won the digitals rights to live stream IPL auction 2023 in India and subcontinent regions. The JioTv or JioCinema app will live stream the IPL auction 2022.

The teams have announced the retained and released players list in November. The total spending limit for all the teams has been increased from INR 90 crore to INR 95 crore for the upcoming auction.
As the teams have already spent some amount of the purse limit to retain their players, every team is now left with a different amount of purse left.
