Babar Azam (C), Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Iftikhar Ahmed, Irfan Khan, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Azam Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Usama Mir, Zaman Khan
Babar Azam is back to leading the Pakistan T20I side and he will lead the side in the T20 World Cup 2024 as well. In the last home T20 series against NZ, he scored 130 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 146.07. In the recently held PSL 2024, Babar finished as the highest run scorer with 569 runs in 11 matches.
Rizwan was leading run scorer for Pakistan in the last home series against NZ. In 90 T20Is, Rizwan has an impressive average of 48.87 and he is currently 19 runs away from completing the 3000-run mark in this shortest format.
In the recently held PSL 2024, Imad Wasim was in good form and he displayed all-round performance with 126 runs and 12 wickets in 12 matches. In the NZ T20 series in 2023, Imad Wasim picked 8 wickets in 5 matches so we can back him to perform well in this series.
Shaheen Afridi was in good form in the PSL 2024 with 14 wickets in 9 matches. He will lead the pace attack in this series. Afridi has a good knowledge of the home pitches and can prove to be lethal for the NZ batting line-up.
Mark Chapman, Tim Robinson, Michael Bracewell, Josh Clarkson, James Neesham, Dean Foxcroft, Cole McConchie, Tim Seifert, Tom Blundell, Jacob Duffy, Ben Lister, William O’Rourke, Ben Sears, Ish Sodhi, Zakary Foulkes
Chapman has accumulated 1418 runs in 70 T20I matches at an average of 28.36. He will certainly be a key batter for this series as last time he was in Pakistan for a T20 series, he smashed 290 runs in 5 matches at a strike rate of 165.71.
Tim has scored 1206 runs in 57 T20Is. He is a T20 specialist player for the NZ side having a career strike rate of 134.15. This will be his first outing in Pakistan and we can expect some explosive innings from him on batting friendly surfaces of Pakistan.
Ben Sears has taken 16 wickets in 13 T20Is and he has a decent economy of 7.83. He will be a crucial pacer on the Pakistan grounds which favours the fast bowlers.
Ish Sodhi is an experienced T20 player in the New Zealand side. He has picked 132 wickets in 111 T20I matches. In the last T20I series against Pakistan in January 2024, Ish Sodhi picked 6 wickets in 4 matches.
Pakistan and New Zealand are going to face each other in a T20I series for the second time this year. The previous T20I series took place in New Zealand and the hosts won by 4-1.
The upcoming series will take place in Pakistan and two venues which are selected for the series are the same grounds which hosted the 5-match T20I series between PAK and NZ in 2023 and resulted in a tie.
According to our analysis, we are backing host Pakistan to clinch a win against New Zealand in the T20I series. Pakistan is a strong team to defeat at home. They have a full-strength squad with top T20 players while New Zealand will have to go without quality players like Rachin Ravindra, Daryll Mitchell, Mitchell Santner who are currently with their IPL franchise.
Pakistan will be confident with a better squad quality and a dominant head to head record against New Zealand.
