In a major blow to the Kolkata Knight Riders team, one of their key pacers, Pat Cummins is ruled out of the remaining part of the IPL 2022 season due to a minor hip injury. He has left the team’s bubble and returned to Sydney to his home.

Cummins has to recover before Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka next month.

Seeing KKR’s current scenario, it looks difficult for them to proceed to the playoffs, hence, the Aussie pacer decided to step out of the league and maintain his body for the upcoming schedule.

Pat Cummins was handed the Australian Test team captaincy before the Ashes and he led the team in a brilliant way, handing England a 4-0 loss. He has also been a key pacer for the Aussie white-ball team as well.

He has been rested from the T20I series against Sri Lanka to prepare himself for the red-ball games. Although he is an important bowler for the T20 team and needs to be in good touch as Australia will defend their T20 World Cup title in October this year.

Pat Cummins missed KKR’s first 3 matches as Australian players were not allowed to participate before 6th April due to international commitments of the Pakistan tour.

Cummins entered the season with a bang. In his first match he smashed 56 runs off just 15 deliveries at a devastating strike rate of 373.33. He reached the joint-record of fastest 50 in IPL.

Cummins played 5 games for KKR this season, in which he picked 7 wickets.

He was picked by KKR in a mega auction in February this year for a price of INR 7.25 crore. The 2 new debutant teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants were also in the race to fetch the Aussie pacer.

KKR is left with matches against SRH and LSG and it is pretty difficult for them to proceed to the next round from here. KKR appointed Shreyas Iyer as the new skipper this season.
