Punjab Kings take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday evening in Match 58 of the 2024 Indian Premier League. After beating Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings were unable to make it three wins in a row when they lost the return fixture with CSK on Sunday. However, they have players in strong form with bat and ball and they will back themselves to beat RCB.
RCB got another win on Saturday when they beat the struggling Gujarat Titans and there is plenty of belief across their side at the moment. That said, they almost threw away a strong position in that match and they will need to be careful not to give Punjab Kings a way back in during this game.

Our bowling recommendations are Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik for RCB. Captain du Plessis produced another very impressive attacking innings at the top of the order against Gujarat Titans when he hit 64 runs from only 23 balls. Kohli struck two fours and four sixes in the last match with his 42 runs taking him beyond 7800 IPL runs.
With the ball, Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar and Arshdeep Singh are our choices for Punjab Kings. Chahar dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Mitchell Santner in the last game against CSK and has seven wickets from his last four games. Arshdeep has a strike-rate of 15.73 in this year’s IPL which is his best return in the tournament since 2021 when he picked up 18 dismissals at a rate of 13.77.
For RCB, Mohammed Siraj, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yash Dayal are our bowling tips. Medium pacer Vyshak bowled the final over of the innings against Gujarat Titans but it only lasted three balls after he dismissed Vijay Shankar and Manav Suthar with Mohit Sharma run out! Dayal has gone wicketless in only two matches so far this season and he returned his best figures in the last game.
Neither side can afford to lose this game on Thursday evening and it looks set to be played on a pitch which will offer something for both batters and bowlers. Therefore it will come down to which team is able to produce the goods and it is RCB who have been doing so on a regular basis. Both teams have explosive batters and one big innings from an individual could decide the contest. Overall though, we think RCB are unstoppable at the moment and are backing them to win again.
