About Kolkata Knight Riders Team (KKR)

Kolkata Knight Riders has won the IPL trophy twice in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir and he is now back to the KKR camp as the team mentor. KKR has made some big changes in the squad by picking 10 new players in the IPL auction 2024 including the biggest ever deal of the IPL.

In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana led the team in the last season and under him, the team finished at the 7th spot with 6 wins in 14 matches. Iyer is now fit to play IPL this year and he has been in good touch since the ODI World Cup 2023.

Kolkata Knight Riders is owned by bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and her husband and businessman Jay Mehta. After winning their last title in 2014, they reached the finals in the 2021 season but lost to CSK in the final match.

The last edition was decent for the KKR but they look stronger than before for the upcoming season. KKR went an extra mile to shell out INR 24.75 crore to rope in Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. With the deal, he becomes the most expensive player in the history of IPL.

  • Andre Russell - Andre Russell has been a go-to all-rounder for KKR for a long time now and they have shown faith in him by retaining him one more time. Russell has accumulated 2262 runs in IPL and he is just 4 wickets away from completing the 100-wicket mark.
