After Jason Roy pulled out of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans signs Rahmanullah Gurbaz as a replacement

In the latest IPL development, Rahmanullah Gurbaz is all set to enter his first ever IPL team Gujarat Titans, to replace Jason Roy who pulled out of the league citing bubble fatigue reasons. Roy pulled out immediately, which took everyone by surprise. He was bought by the Titans for INR 2 crore at the 2-day IPL mega auction in Bengaluru.

Gurbaz’s Non-Stop Action

The 20-year-old Afghanistan batsman has been in the limelight for a while after his quality batting, especially in the shorter format of the game. Gurbaz was part of the Abu Dhabi T10 league, Lanka Premier League then Pakistan Super League 2022. He was among the top 10 batsmen in the T10 league and Lanka Premier League. In the T10 league, he scored 343 runs in 13 matches and in the LPL 2021, he scored 207 runs in 8 matches.

In the PSL 2022, he batted for Islamabad United and scored 139 runs in 6 matches.

As far as his international stats are concerned, Gurbaz has played 20 T20Is in which he scored 534 runs at an average of 26.70

This is Gurbaz’s first IPL experience and we think he is totally ready to be a part of this huge T20 league and if he performs well here, then he can surely become a crucial part of the IPL for a long time as he is quite young and immensely talented for white-ball cricket.

Gujarat Titans Entry Into IPL 2022

IPL 2022 is set to feature 10 teams with the entry of 2 new teams from this season. Gujarat Titans is one of the 2 new teams and is set to be led by the former Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Gujarat Titans bought Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill in the draft pick after which they went on to buy many other key players like Mohammad Shami, Lockie Ferguson, Jason Roy, Matthew Wade, David Miller in the IPL mega auction.

With the inclusion of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, he becomes the 3rd Afghanistan player in the Titans after Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed.
