Gujarat Titans batsman Jason Roy pulled out of the IPL 2022

In a huge blow to the Gujarat Titans camp, Jason Roy has pulled out of the upcoming IPL 2022 citing personal reasons. The 31-year-old England batsman has been dealing with the bio-bubble for a while now as he played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which concluded recently.

In his social media post, Roy has expressed that he has come to this decision with a heavy heart. In the recently held IPL mega auction, the newly added franchise Gujarat Titans bought Jason Roy for his base price of INR 2 crore.

Jason Roy entered the PSL 2022 season with a bang as he smashed a century in his first match against Lahore Qalandars. Playing for Quetta Gladiators, Roy scored 303 runs in just 6 matches at a strike rate of 170.22. 

During the PSL 2022, Roy was in a bubble the whole time and now he has to stay inside another bubble for IPL 2022 for more than 2 months. Jason Roy has stated that the buddle fatigue is taking a toll on him and he wishes to spend time with his family for some time.

Jason Roy Statement for pulling out of IPL 2022

On his call to opt out of the season, Jason Roy, said, “With everything going on in the world over the last 3 years, it's added up and taken a toll on me. I feel it's only right I spend some quality time with my family. As well as spending time working on myself and my game over the next couple of months leading in to a busy year.”

With a larger focus on the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup and other reasons, quite a few players have opted out of IPL 2022.

Jason Roy’s IPL experience

Jason Roy played 5 matches in IPL 2021 for Sunrisers Hyderabad after coming in as replacement for Mitchell Marsh. He played some good knocks for the team accumulating 150 runs in 5 innings.

In IPL 2020 season, Jason Roy was bought in by Delhi Capitals for INR 1.5 crore and he pulled out of that season as well due to personal reasons.

In his overall IPL career, Jason Roy has played 13 matches only and scored 329 runs.
