In a major blow to the already sinking Mumbai Indians, their middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav is ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2022 due to a muscle injury in his left forearm which he picked during the match against Gujarat Titans.

An official statement from the team has said that the decision has been taken after consultation with the fitness team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Suryakumar Yadav had also missed the first week of the tournament as he was recovering from his previous injury where he suffered a hairline fracture and it took him 3 weeks to recover completely and join the MI camp.

He performed pretty well after coming back to the side. He has smashed 303 runs in 8 innings at an average of 43.28.

In his IPL career, Suryakumar Yadav has played 123 matches so far and scored 2644 runs at an average of 30.39.

Suryakumar Yadav’s fitness is a big concern for the Indian team as he will be looking forward to joining the squad for the 5-match T20I series against South Africa in June and his form is crucial for the T20 World Cup this year, as well. Currently he has scored 351 runs in 12 innings in T20 internationals.
