Gujarat Titans appointed Rashid Khan as Vice Captain

T20 specialist bowler Rashid Khan is appointed as the vice captain of the newly inducted franchise Gujarat Titans. Rashid Khan was picked by Gujarat Titans for a whopping price tag of INR 15 crore, which is the same amount as of skipper Hardik Pandya.

Rashid Khan has been part of the league since 2017 and played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. After he was released by SRH last year, Gujarat Titans signed him for the IPL 2022 season.

Gujarat Titans took to its social media to announce the update. The caption of the post read, “In yet another #SeasonOfFirsts, Rashid bhai becomes our vice-captain” along with a picture of Rashid Khan with Hardik Pandya.

Rashid Khan IPL Career

Rashid Khan has been a prominent leg spinner in the IPL and has picked many of the top batsmen with his variations. Since 2017, Rashid Khan has played 76 matches and picked 93 wickets at an economy of 6.33.

Rashid Khan has recently revealed that he shares a good bond with Hardik Pandya and is looking forward to learning from him.

This isn’t the first time that Rashid is taking over the leadership duties. He has led the Afghanistan team before and under his leadership, the team won 1 Test, 1 ODI and 3 T20Is. He stepped down from the Afghanistan captaincy just before the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Gujarat Titans is set to play their first ever IPL match against another debuting franchise, Lucknow Super Giants on 28th March, 2022 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
