KKR vs RCB Predicted Playing 11 - IPL 2023 Match 9

Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 9th Match of the IPL 2023. The match is scheduled to take place on 6th April at KKR’s home ground Eden Gardens.

KKR lost their season opener against Punjab Kings while RCB is coming to this match from a brilliant victory against Mumbai Indians.

In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, KKR will be led by Nitish Rana and RCB is led by Faf du Plessis.

Let’s take a look at the predicted playing 11 team for this match.

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • Top Order: KKR top-order needs to level up after their performance in the first match. PBKS’ Arshdeep removed the three out of top four batters of KKR. Afghan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has a lot of potential to do some hitting in the initial overs. He needs to bring his A-game.
  • Middle Order: Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer were the only ones who performed decently in the middle-order. Iyer was the impact player sub. Andre Russell also made an impact at the lower-middle order but he was dismissed by Sam Curran.
  • Lower Order: Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy are at the lower order. Umesh bowled well but Southee ended with an economy of 13.50 which he needs to work on. Southee did pick 2 wickets though. KKR might back the same lower order again for this match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Top Order: RCB performed clinically in the first match and the opening pair of Faf and Kohli scored a brilliant partnership of 148 runs. Dinesh Karthik went up the order and got out for a duck but he is an essential player for RCB and will be backed.
  • Middle Order: Gladly, RCB didn’t require to use its middle-order unit to bat. Michael Bracewell contributed with the ball and picked a wicket. RCB will back the same middle-order with the strength of Karthik and Maxwell, until there are any injuries or replacements.
  • Lower Order: Reece Topley injured himself badly while fielding in the first match. We are expecting him to sit out in this match and David Willey might replace him in the playing 11 against KKR. Harshal Patel, Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep would be at the lower order.
