Just days before the commencement of IPL 2022, BCCI conducted a camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore to check the fitness status of the players who have recovered from injuries.

Hardik Pandya Passed ‘Yo-yo’ Test

The Indian all rounder Hardik Pandya had his last outing for the team in the T20 World Cup 2021 in October-November. Since then he has been out of action and recovering from the injury.

The latest reports are saying that Hardik Pandya was at the NCA and performed well for 2 days. He has passed the ‘yo-yo’ endurance test which is a benchmark test conducted by the academy to measure the player’s fitness levels.

Hardik Pandya has passed the test with an excellent score of 17, while the cut-off mark is 16.5 for the men’s test.

Pandya has had brilliant years at Mumbai Indians camp where he emerged as one of the key players behind the team’s success as the top IPL team. He was released by the team after the IPL 2021 season and was available to be fetched by other franchises.

The newly inducted franchise, Gujarat Titans signed Hardik Pandya in the draft pick for a whopping price of INR 15 crore and appointed him as the captain. Titans also bought Rashid Khan at the same price and Shubman Gill for INR 8 crore in the draft pick.

According to a BCCI source, Hardik Pandya didn’t require to bowl at the NCA to pass the fitness test but he insisted to show his bowling as well and bowled for quite a long time with speed clocking around 135 km/h.

Therefore, now Pandya is all set and fit to lead the Gujarat Titans team at the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Prithvi Shaw Failed To Pass

According to the same sources, it has been reported that Prithvi Shaw, who was also present at the camp for the test, has not been able to pass the test scoring 15, which is low.

The source has stated that Shaw has played 3 back to back Ranji matches and it takes a toll on the player’s fatigue which can be the reason for his below the mark score. This doesn’t mean that he won’t be able to participate in the IPL 2022. Shaw was retained by the Delhi Capitals, along with Rishabh Pant and Anrich Nortje.
