CPL 2022 Predictions - Who will Win the Tournament

One of the biggest T20 tournaments in the world will be played between 31st August and 30th September 2022. Six teams will feature in a total of 38 games. But, which team is going to take the trophy home?

Are you curious about that and want to know the odds of your favourite team winning the Championship? If yes, then this article will help you to find out.

Here, we have discussed the following things about CPL 2022.

  • Favourite Teams
  • Par Teams
  • Underdog Teams
  • Final Prediction of winning team

So, let's start.

Favourite Teams

Looking at the squads, Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals are the 2 hot-favourite sides to win the tournament this year. Let's take a look at them one by one:

Trinbago Knight Riders

The star-studded CPL franchise will be eying its 5th CPL title. They are, so far, the most successful team in the history of the CPL.

The abundance of local star players on their side makes them a strong contender this year. Pooran, Pollard, Russell, Narine, Akeal, and Seales are all in the Riders’ squad.

Theekshana, Siefert, and Munro are more than decent T20 players. But, the overall set of foreign players looks just par. Still, they will be a tough side to beat this season.

Barbados Royals

The two-time CPL Champions will be hoping for another victorious season this year. The first thing to notice about them is their powerhouse batting lineup. The likes of de Kock, Miller, Mayers, Cornwall, and Azam Khan give the spine to their batting.

Also, the spin attack looks settled with Walsh and Mujeeb. McCoy and Oshane strengthen the pace department. In a nutshell, they have all the bases covered and defeating them this season will be an enormous challenge for other teams.

Par Teams

Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots are thetwo teams that look average in the competition this year. Let’s get some insight into both teams:

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

The defending champions have both the substance and the depth in their batting lineup. Lewis, Fletcher, and Brevis will form a formidable top order. Whereas Qasim, Drakes, and Pretorius are there to provide the finishing touch.

Fast bowling looks good too, but they have only one reliable spinner in the form of Wanindu Hasaranga. So, he will be their go-to guy in the middle overs. Thereupon, we can assume they have a decent chance to get to the glory.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Guyana is yet to win the CPL title, and they will be eager to change history this year. Their batting order is as strong as it gets with Stirling, Hope, Hemraj, Ingram, and Klassen in the side.

Tahir and Shamsi are hard to get away in the middle overs. Thus, the spin-bowing attack is crucial for their hopes. The pace attack is an area of concern as there is not much variation in it. They only have medium pacers like Odean, Shepherd, and Kemo Paul.

In brief, they have the opportunity of winning the cup, but the chances are not so bright.

Underdog Teams

St Lucia Kings and Jamaica Tallawahs are the two weakest sides on paper. But, they do have the ability to surprise everyone. Let's see where they stand:

St Lucia Kings

Kings will rely heavily on their International players' quartet of Faf, Wiese, Kuggeleijn, and Tim David. These guys are crucial to their hopes of getting their maiden CPL title.

The fast bowling lineup looks decent with Joseph and Williams. But, the spin department looks pretty ordinary. Roston Chase is the only dependable spinner in their squad.

All in all, the Kings will need to play out of their skin if they want to see themselves lift the trophy.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Tallawahs will strive hard to put their hands on the trophy for the 3rd time in the history of CPL. To achieve this feat, they will be heavily dependent on their spinners. Green, Imad, Fabian, and Lamichhane are seasoned T20 players and proven match winners.

The left-arm pace of Amir and Reifer will reinforce the bowling lineup. But, their fast bowling overall looks below par, which might cost them dearly this season.

In short, the Tallawahs don't have a great chance of winning this year's competition.

Final Prediction

So, which team is going to win the CPL 2022 championship? Considering all the parameters, Tribango Knight Riders are highly likely to lift the trophy of CPL 2022 and become the champions for the 5th time.

That's all from this blog. Enjoy CPL and stay tuned for more exciting cricket news and articles.
