In a latest development, Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav is signed up by the England county club Middlesex for the remainder of the 2022 season. He has been drafted to the squad immediately and he will be available for the Royal London One-Day Cup which is scheduled to commence on August 2.
Umesh Yadav has been in good form lately. He was praised for this performance in the IPL this year. He was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in the mega auction in February. He played 12 matches in which he picked 16 wickets at an economy of 7.06.
Yadav is an experienced pacer having international exposure of more than a decade now. In 75 ODIs, he has picked 106 wickets while in 52 Tests he has taken 158 wickets with 10/133 as the best bowling figures in Tests.
Umesh Yadav has replaced Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi in the Middlesex squad after the latter went home to prepare for his international commitments.
Another Indian player Cheteshwar Pujara is also part of the England county cricket playing for Sussex team.
Head of Men's Performance Cricket at Middlesex, Alan Coleman said, “It was always our intention to have an overseas international bowler with us throughout the duration of the season, and since Shaheen returned to Pakistan prior to the start of our Blast campaign we've been looking for the right player to replace him.”
