The T20 or Twenty20 format has transformed the game of Cricket and popularised the sport around the world. With the advent of this shorter format, cricket has started gaining love from regions like Europe and America where it wasn’t popular before.

Almost all the cricketing nations have developed their T20 leagues and some of them are quite popular like IPL, BBL, CPL, PSL, etc. These leagues have given platform to a large number of talented players and helped them carve a way to the national teams.

Men’s T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup is the top-most ICC event for this format where 16 national teams participate to clinch the T20 World Cup trophy. The 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup is taking place in Australia, who are also the current champions. Australia lifted their first ever T20 World Cup trophy last year in the UAE.

T20 World Cup 2022 - Top 10 All-Rounders

It is no secret that the teams always look for quality all-rounders in their squad as all-rounder players are crucial for winning matches, especially in the T20 format. Currently almost every team has a key all-rounder which is an important asset.

We have seen Aussie all-rounders like Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green making a difference on the Australian pitches which gives us a clear picture of how important is the role of all-rounders there.

We have gathered a list of the Top 10 all-rounders who can be a game changers in this year’s T20 World Cup 2022:

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is having one of the best comebacks after he sustained a serious injury in the last year’s T20 World Cup. After a hiatus, he recovered from the injury and was appointed as the captain of the debuting IPL franchise Gujarat Titans and the team clinched the first ever IPL trophy this year under his leadership.

Following his IPL 2022 outing, he came to the Indian side more powerful than ever. He was clocking 140+ km/h with the ball and hitting maximums with an ease. Pandya looks more confident than he has ever been and it can work well for the Indian side in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Hardik Pandya has played 73 T20Is so far in which he has scored 989 runs and picked 54 wickets including two 4-wicket hauls. He has a batting average of 39.00 in Australia. In this year, Pandya has played 19 T20Is so far in which he has picked 12 wickets and smashed 436 runs at an average of 36.33.

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell, also called ‘Big Show’ by his fans, is the star Aussie all-rounder. The middle-order batter and part-time spinner is known for smashing huge sixes and playing the match-finisher role.

Maxwell is struggling a bit with his form lately but that doesn’t make him any less of a quality all-rounder. He has been a key all-rounder for the Australian side for a long time.

Maxwell has an experience of 94 T20Is in which he has scored 2041 runs and picked 36 wickets. Although, Maxwell is not a go-to spin option but on his good day, he can topple any batsman with his spin skills. He has the best bowling figures of 3/10.

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh cemented his place in the team by becoming the hero of the T20 World Cup 2021 win. Marsh is currently placed at the top-order in the batting line-up and he offers a medium pace bowling option which comes handy on the Aussie pitches.

Marsh has played 42 T20Is so far and he has smashed 980 runs and taken 15 wickets. A lot of Marsh’s experience comes from his 151 T20 matches in which he has scored 3500+ runs.

Like Maxwell, Marsh can also play the role of finisher quite well as we have witnessed in the last edition of the T20 World Cup final. He scored the winning runs and was awarded the Player of the Match for this match winning knock of 77 runs off 50 deliveries.

Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali has been part of the England T20I side since 2014 and has cemented his place over the years. He is a good hitter of the ball and also a quality spin bowling option.

Ali is having the best year of his career so far, therefore, needless to say that skipper Buttler has kept his faith in the all-rounder.

In the year 2022, Ali has played 21 T20Is so far in which he has scored 458 runs at an average of 32.71 and picked 12 wickets with an average of 25.91.

Moeen Ali has played 3 matches in Australia in which he scored 54 runs at an average of 27.00.

He is currently at the 3rd spot in the ICC T20I rankings for all-rounders.

Shakib Al Hasan

Bangladesh captain and star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan is currently the No.1 all-rounder in the ICC T20I rankings. Hasan retained the spot back from Mohammad Nabi.

The 35-year-old will definitely go down in the history of T20I cricket as one of the top all-rounders. His T20I stats speaks for himself.

In 104 T20Is, Shakib Al Hasan has smashed 2199 runs at an average of 23.90 and has picked 122 wickets at an impressive average of 20.89.

This year Shakib has played 10 T20Is so far and he scored 305 runs at an average of 33.88 and taken 5 wickets.

Sikandar Raza

It won’t be wrong to say that Raza is currently the top Zimbabwean player.

Raza has played 60 T20Is so far in which he has scored 1136 runs and picked 32 wickets. He is currently on the 7th spot in the ICC T20I rankings for all-rounders.

Raza was born in Pakistan and he has left his mark in various T20 leagues like CPL, PSL. He has played 145 T20 matches.

With his talent by their side, Zimbabwe can expect to proceed to the Super 12s as well.

Mohammad Nabi

The Afghanistan skipper is one of the top all-rounders in the T20 international circuit. Currently at the 2nd spot in the ICC T20I rankings.

In 101 T20Is, Nabi has scored 1669 runs and picked 83 wickets.

Other than his stats, he has been a great leader of the Afghanistan team and under his captaincy the team has levelled up and in this year’s T20 World Cup, Afghanistan entered the tournament straight into the Super 12 round along with other top-level international teams.

Nabi is an important all-rounder for the Afghanistan team. He scores crucial runs and can bat according to the momentum of the game and is also a good spin option.

Wanindu Hasaranga

Hasaranga has become a great asset for the current Sri Lankan T20I squad. He is having a great year so far having picked 26 wickets and scored 140 runs in 14 T20Is.

Hasaranga also had a good run in the IPL this year. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and played 18 matches and took 26 wickets.

In Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup 2022 win, Hasaranga picked 9 wickets in 6 matches.

He is a bowling all-rounder but has the capability to hit huge sixes as well and score crucial runs. He can also play the finisher role as well, coming out in the middle-order.

Michael Bracewell

Bracewell made his debut for New Zealand at the age of 31 and has cemented his place in the T20I side.

He has played 13 T20Is so far and picked 17 wickets and has a highest score of 61*.

Bracewell is the all-rounder that the Kiwis have been looking for to support Mitchell Santner.

He has a bowling average of 9.82 and has registered his best bowling figures of 3/5.

Mohammad Nawaz

Mohammad Nawaz has become a crucial all-rounder for Pakistan this year. He has played 18 T20Is for Pakistan this year so far which is the maximum he has played for the team. In 18 matches, Nawaz has scored 231 runs and picked 19 wickets with his spin bowling.

Nawaz emerged as the Player of the Match for smashing 42 runs off 20 deliveries against India in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022. With Nawaz’s match-winning knock, Pakistan chased a target 182 with one ball left.

Nawaz along with Shadab Khan strengthen the Pakistan middle-order and give them a good option for the finisher role.
