Bangladesh top-order batsman Tamim Iqbal is ruled out of the upcoming New Zealand tour. The development came due to the thumb injury which he sustained in the Everest Premier League. Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician, Debashish Chowdhury has announced in a statement that Iqbal needs rest for another month for the treatment of the injury.
Bangladesh is scheduled to tour New Zealand for 2 Test matches which would be part of the 2nd World Test Championship which falls from 2021-23. The 1st Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand will commence on 1st January, 2022. Bangladesh is currently playing a home series against Pakistan. After getting clean sweeped by Pakistan in 3-match T20I series, the teams are set to commence the 2-match Test series which will commence on 26th November, 2021.
