The All-India Senior Selection Committee has announced the ODI squad for the West Indies tour in which Indian opening batter, Shikhar Dhawan has been picked to lead the ODI squad in the upcoming 3-match One Day International series against West Indies.
India’s tour of West Indies will kick-off with the 1st ODI to take place on July 22. The ODI series will be followed by 5 T20Is.
Shikhar Dhawan got his call back to the squad as full-time skipper Rohit Sharma will be rested for the series. Rohit is leading the Indian white-ball team in the T20I and ODI series against England, which will end on 17th July.
Shikhar Dhawan isn’t part of the England tour and he is the best choice among the senior players to lead the ODI side.
Along with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Shami will also be rested in the West Indies ODI series. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will serve as the vice-captain in the series.
