Amid of what is an already struggling season for Chennai Super Kings, they are facing another major blow as the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remaining part of the IPL 2022 due to a rib injury, which he picked while attempting a catch of Mahipal Lomror of RCB.
Jadeja has been ruled out of the remaining matches of CSK and he has left the team’s bubble on Wednesday (11th May).
The CEO of Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanathan said, “He has an injury on his rib which he sustained during our match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (on May 04). We have only two games left and given his heavy international commitments, we thought he should not risk further injury.”
Jadeja has been associated with the franchise since 2012 and this is only the 2nd time in 10 years that Jadeja has missed a match.
Just 2 days before the 1st match of the IPL 2022 was about to take place, MS Dhoni handed the captaincy duties to Ravindra Jadeja. This was the first time Jadeja led any team as a full-time skipper. The captaincy pressure certainly took over his form.
Jadeja was seen struggling leading the team even with the help of Dhoni by his side. The 4-time IPL champions, CSK struggled for the first 4 matches to find their first win of the season. They are currently sitting at the 9th spot on the points table and are out of the race for the playoffs.
In the last 2 seasons, Jadeja has smashed 459 runs and picked 19 wickets but his form dropped this year. This season, he has played 10 matches so far and scored 116 runs while taking only 5 wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja is an important part of the Indian team and seeing his international commitments and a T20 World Cup on its way, he has been rested for the remaining part of the tournament.
