Punjab Kings will be disappointed with their performance so far. They have played seven games and won just 3. They have played an aggressive brand of cricket which has worked for them in a few games. However, it has resulted in a few collapses as well which is why Punjab have lost four games.
Meanwhile, Chennai have just started to find their feet in the tournament. They have won just two of their seven games. However, both wins have come in the last three games. The team still has a lot to work in the batting and bowling department.
There have been calls to include Bhanuka Rajapaksa in the team but we doubt Punjab will drop Bairstow for Rajapaksa. However, they may include Rishi Dhawan in place of Vaibhav Arora to strengthen their batting.
Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal will open the innings. Mayank has been disappointing so far, while Dhawan has blown hot and cold. Jonny Bairstow will follow the openers. He will be eyeing a big knock against CSK.
Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan will comprise the middle order. Livingstone and Sharma have been top-notch while Khan has also hit a few lusty blows. However, all these players will need a platform to go big.
Lack of specialist all-rounders can hurt the team.
Bowlers - Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh and Rishi Dhawan will be the bowlers. The bowling from Punjab has been ordinary and all these bowlers will have to bring out their A-game against CSK.

Chennai won their last game and there is no need for them to tinker with the winning combination.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa will open the innings. Gaikwad scored a 73 against Gujarat but was out on a duck in the last game. He needs to be a lot more consistent. Uthappa has been good, playing some crisp innings. Ambati Rayudu will follow the openers. Rayudu has also played a couple of good knocks but needs consistency.
Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni will be the middle-order batters. Dube has played some blazing innings for CSK this season, while Dhoni will be high on confidence after playing a match-winning knock in the last match against Mumbai
Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo and Dwayne Pretorius will be the all-rounders alongside Dube. All of them have underperformed so far.
Mitchell Santner, Maheesh Theekshana and Mukesh Choudhary will form decent bowling. Theekshana has been good throughout while Mukesh had a brilliant game against Mumbai.
