All-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I home series against West Indies as he is yet to recover fully from his side strain injury which he picked in early September. His exclusion comes at a critical point where Australia is trying to decide their best combination for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
We saw recently Australia included all-rounder Tim David into the T20I squad which they are preparing for the T20 World Cup 2022. Australia are the current champions and the next host of the ICC mega event and they will be looking forward to retaining the title this year.
Stoinis has not travelled with the team to play the 2-match T20I series against West Indies set to kick-off on 5th October, 2022. Following this series, the team will go to Perth to start the 3-match T20I series against England.
This is a crucial time as the selectors are looking forward to deciding the perfect playing 11 for the T20 World Cup. Tim David, taking Stoinis’ spot, recently made his T20I debut for Australia against India and smashed 54 runs off 27 deliveries in Mohali and helped his team to emerge victorious.
