Following Eoin Morgan’s retirement from international Cricket, wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler is appointed as the new white-ball skipper to take over duties from Morgan.

Morgan has bid adieu to international cricket as England’s most successful captain, winning the ICC World Cup trophy in 2019.

Jos Buttler Current Form

Buttler has emerged as one of the finest white-ball batters for England and currently, he is at the top of his game. In the IPL 2022, Buttler played for Rajasthan Royals and he emerged as the leading run scorer of the season winning the orange cap. Buttler smashed 863 runs in 17 matches at an average of 39.87. He is now at the 2nd position in the list of the highest runs in a single season.

After the IPL, Jos Buttler continued his fine form in the Netherlands series where he scored 248 runs in 3 ODIs at a strike rate of 185.07. In the 1st ODI, England put up a total of 498 runs which is now the highest innings total by a team in ODIs. Jos Buttler emerged as the Player of the Match in the 1st match for smashing 162 runs off 70 deliveries. He smashed 14 sixes.

Jos Buttler made his T20I debut in 2011 against India and the next year in 2012, he made his ODI outing against Pakistan.

In 151 ODIs, Buttler has accumulated 4120 runs at an average of 41.20 and in 88 T20Is, he scored 2140 runs at 34.51.

On becoming the new white-ball skipper, Buttler said, “It is a great honour to take over from Eoin and the place he has left English white-ball cricket in is exciting, and I’m inspired for the challenges ahead.”

Jos Buttler’s first series as the full-time white-ball skipper will be the upcoming India’s tour of England which consists of 3 T20I and 3 ODIs.
