The Birmingham Commonwealth Games of 2022 will feature Cricket for the first time after 1998 and the squad for the same has been announced. The Women’s Cricket Competition 2022 will take place from July 29 to August 07. India has announced a women's squad in which Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia and Harleen Deol are also included. Simran Bahadur, Richa Ghosh and Poonam Yadav have been excluded from the squad to make way for the 3 players.
The tournament will be in the T20 format and all the matches will be counted in the T20 internationals.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian side. Taniya Bhatiya last played T20I in March 2020. She will be the second wicket keeper option along with Yastika Bhatia. The majority of players in the squad are from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 when India was the finalist.
In the competition, India are grouped along with Australia, Pakistan and Barbados. India will play their first match on July 29 against Australia. India-Pakistan clash will take place on July 31 and all the matches will take place at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
