England’s explosive all-rounder, Ben Stokes has announced retirement from ODIs. Stokes announced that the 1st ODI against South Africa at Chester-le-Street will be his last ODI match.

England’s World Cup winning star, Stokes has expressed that playing in three formats is unsustainable for him at this moment. Stokes was appointed as the red-ball skipper after Joe Root stepped down from the captaincy following England’s poor stint in the longest format.

This has been an incredibly tough decision to make. I have loved every minute of playing with my mates for England. We have had an incredible journey on the way.”
