Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed former Afghanistan pacer Umar Gul as the bowling coach. Gul is set to join the team camp at Abu Dhabi on 4th April.

Gul started cricket coaching just after he retired from international cricket in 2010. Since then he has coached teams in Pakistan Super League, Lanka Premier League and Kashmir Premier League. In the PSL, he was in the Quetta Gladiators’ coaching staff and was a part of the Galle Gladiators’ staff in the LPL.

As per Gul’s agreement, he will coach the team for three weeks and if things work out well then his agreement will be extended.

Afghanistan Cricket Board has been doing the coaching staff revamp lately. They appointed the former England batter Graham Thorpe as the head coach after he stepped down from his duties in the England and Wales Cricket Board.

On his appointment, Gul posted on his Twitter, saying, “Honoured to be taking up this role with the @ACBofficials. Looking forward to imparting the best of the knowledge that I have and making it worth it for the boys”, tweeted Gul.”
