Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the Vice-Captain for the 3-match T20I series against West Indies starting from 16th February. BCCI took this decision after the newly appointed white-ball vice captain, KL Rahul was ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury which he sustained during the 2nd ODI.

Rishabh Pant has been given this position after seeing his brilliant leadership quality during the IPL 2021, where he led the Delhi Capitals team to the play-offs. He was leading the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, but after the IPL 2021 resumed its second leg, the management kept the captaincy to Pant.

Ahead of the T20I series, Indian players KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar have been ruled out. All the three players are currently not fit enough to participate in the series. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda and Kuldeep Yadav have been roped in to replace Rahul, Patel and Sundar, respectively.

Kuldeep Yadav has made a comeback to the white-ball side after a long time. He played the 3rd ODI against West Indies where he took 2 wickets for 51 runs.

The three-match T20I series will commence on 16th February, with the next two matches taking place on 18th and 20th February. All the three matches will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
