Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians Preview

RCB has once again started the tournament on a positive note. They have won two of the three games. The batting has done well, while the bowlers have also been decent. The team would like to continue the momentum.

MI, on the other hand, has been poor. While the batting still looks decent, barring Bumrah, others in the bowling department have not been good enough. Mumbai have lost all their three games so far.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

With Glenn Maxwell available for selection, Sherfane Rutherford is likely to make way for him.

Top Order

Faf Du Plessis and Anuj Rawat will open the innings, followed by Virat Kohli. Faf and Kohli are match winners and have looked good in the tournament.

Middle Order

Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik will take charge of the middle order. Maxwell will be keen to make an impact in the first game, while Ahmed played a match-winning knock in the last game. Karthik will be the main finisher.

All-rounders

Wanindu Hasaranga and David Willey will be the all-rounders. Both players add depth to the side. Hasaranga will be the main man with the ball as well.

Bowlers

Akash Deep, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj will be the pacers. Patel and Siraj have done well for the franchise in the last two years, while Akash Deep has also been decent.

RCB Key Batters

  • Faf du Plessis - Du Plessis has scored 122 runs in three games and has looked solid as ever. RCB will be very happy to see his form.
  • Virat Kohli - Kohli played a good hand in the first game but couldn't do much in the next two games. He will be keen to have a good season and lead RCB to a title win.
  • Dinesh Karthik - Karthik has been in staggering form this season. In the last game, he single-handedly won RCB the match with a blazing 50.

RCB Key Bowlers

  • Harshal Patel - Patel will be important in death overs and will help RCB curb the run flow in final overs.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai's bowling looks weak. They may bring in Riley Meredith in place of Daniel Sams. Jaydev Unadkat can also get a game.

Top Order

Rohit Sharma, and Ishan Kishan form a solid opening pair, who will be followed by Dewald Brevis. Sharma has not fired yet but he is a dangerous player. Kishan has been very good and Mumbai will be keen to see him score runs in the coming game. Brevis played a cracking inning of 29 in the last game and gave a glimpse of what he is capable of.

Middle Order

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma will take charge of the middle overs. Yadav scored a 50 in the last match and help Mumbai post a decent total after a poor start. Tilak Varma too has been very good this season.

All-rounders

Kieron Pollard will be the only all-rounder in the team. Pollard can be destructive in final overs, as we saw in the last match where he scored 22 off 5 balls. He can chip in with a few overs as well.

Bowlers

Jasprit Bumrah, Basil Thampi, Riley Meredith and Murugan Ashwin will be the likely bowling attack for Mumbai. While Bumrah has been good, others have blown hot and cold. Murugan Ashwin can be a match-winner for Mumbai on this pitch.

MI Key Batters

  • Rohit Sharma - Rohit Sharma has not fired yet but he is a top batter and a match-winner.
  • Ishan Kishan - Kishan has been good in the tournament and has scored two fifties in three games. Mumbai would want him to keep his form and deliver for the side once again.
  • Dewald Brevis - On a pitch where most batters struggled, Brewis played a gem of an innings. He played some crip shots and looked good for a big one before being stumped. Brevis will be a player to watch out for.

MI Key bowlers

  • Jasprit Bumrah - Bumrah is the best bowler of the team. Mumbai's fate in the tournament will rest on Bumrah's form.
  • Murugan Ashwin - Ashwin can be a trump card for Mumbai. He can choke the opposition for runs in the middle overs and pick wickets as well.
  • Basil Thampi - Thampi bowled well in the last game which must have given a lot of confidence to him. Mumbai will desperately want him to keep this form and compliment Bumrah.
