The International Cricket Council has revealed the prize money for the upcoming prestigious mega event - Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Current champions, Australia is set to host the T20 World Cup which will commence on 16th October with the 1st match to be held between Namibia and Sri Lanka.
As far as the prize money is concerned, the range is equal to the last edition’s amount and the winning team will walk away with a whopping amount of $1.6 million.
The runner-up team will fetch $800,000 while the 2 losing teams from the semi-finals will get $400,000 each.
For a win in the first-round of the tournament, a team will get $40,000. There are 8 teams in the first round, divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. Netherlands, UAE, Sri Lanka and Namibia are in Group A while Ireland, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Scotland are placed in Group B.
The four top teams from the first round will join Australia, England, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan to play the Super 12 round. The $40,000 match winning prize money will be awarded in every match of the Super 12 round and the teams which will be knocked out in this round will receive $70,000 each. The total amount of T20 World Cup 2022’s prize money is $5.6 million.
