Vice captain KL Rahul Will Miss The Opening ODI Match Against West Indies

In another blow to the team, India will have to go into the 1st ODI without KL Rahul as well after Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad were also made unavailable 2 days ago.

According to the sources, KL Rahul has decided to miss the 1st ODI due to his sister’s wedding which he has to attend. So, therefore, he will be available definitely from the 2nd ODI and further in the T20Is.

After leading the Indian in the ODI series in South Africa in the absence of newly appointed captain, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul will be back to his vice captain duties as Sharma is now fit to play in this series and lead the team for the first time as a full-time captain.

KL Rahul has been in the limelight recently due to his signing as the captain of the new IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giant. He is now the joint most-expensive player in IPL history, along with Virat Kohli, for a whopping price of INR 17 crore. RCB paid INR 17 crore to retain Kohli. 

As Shikhar Dhawan is now unavailable, KL Rahul was supposed to open the innings along with Rohit Sharma but now in his absence, Mayank Agarwal has been called upon into the squad and he is speculated to open for the side with the skipper. Agarwal has played 5 ODIs so far and scored 86 runs.
