Wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis, who made his debut this year, has earned his first ever contract with Cricket Australia, for the 2022-23. CA has released a list of 20 players who have been handed the central contract for this year.

Josh Inglis played his first international match in February 2022 in a 5-match T20I home series against Sri Lanka where he scored 155 runs in 5 matches. He played his latest T20I match 2 days ago when Australia defeated Pakistan in an only T20I.

In the Big Bash League 2021-22, Josh Inglis was part of the Perth Scorchers, who lifted the trophy this year. In the season, Inglis scored 137 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 128.03.

Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Aaron Finch, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner, Adam Zampa

As reported by Cricbuzz, CA’s Chairman of selectors for Men, George Bailey, said, “The performances by Mitch Marsh, Usman, Travis, Scott, Marcus and Mitch Swepson were pivotal in helping secure those successes and we are pleased they have retained their contracts for the upcoming year after being rewarded with upgrades throughout the past season.”

Among the players who haven’t got the extension and axed from their contracts are Matthew Wade, Marcus Harris, Moises Henriques, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Ben McDermott. Pacer James Pattinson was not eligible for the contract as he retired from international cricket and former Test captain Tim Paine is on an indefinite break due to which he also couldn’t get the contract.
