IPL 2022 Updates - Latest Points Table Rankings, Orange Cap and Purple Cap Standings

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has finished its 2nd week and so far, the season has been quite interesting. Two most successful IPL teams - Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are struggling to find their first win of the season, whereas the newly inducted franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have been pretty impressive.

Rajasthan Royals defeated LSG by just 3 runs in yesterday's contest and made their way to the top of the table with 3 wins in 4 matches. 

Kolkata Knight Riders also has 6 points with 3 wins so far but with a better net run rate, RR is placed above KKR. Last season’s runner-up team, KKR’s squad is beefed up after a powerful entrance of Aussie Test skipper Pat Cummins in the match against Mumbai Indians.

The debuting franchise, Gujarat Titans are at the 3rd spot and they are the only unbeatable team so far this season. Hardik Pandya-led GT team has not lost any match in 3 matches so far.

Orange Cap Standings - IPL 2022

Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler is currently topping the Orange Cap list with 218 runs in just 4 matches. His current average is 72.67. Buttler smashed the first century of the season against Mumbai Indians and handed Rajasthan their 2nd win.

Quinton de Kock is in good touch, opening for a new team LSG this season. He and KL Rahul at the top order gives the team a start they want. Gujarat Titans’ batter Shubman Gill has made it to the 3rd spot in the top run scorer with 180 runs in 3 matches.

The 4th and 5th spot on the table is currently occupied by Ishan Kishan and Shimron Hetmyer. Ishan has amassed 175 runs at an average of 58.33 While Hetmyer has scored 168 runs at an aggressive average of 84.00.

Purple Cap Standings - IPL 2022

Yuzvendra Chahal currently wears the purple cap, picking 11 wickets in 4 matches and has an impressive average of 9.45. He is one of the top IPL bowlers, and after serving the RCB team for 5 seasons, he is now strengthening the Rajasthan Royals’ bowling line-up.

When other teams weren’t interested in picking Umesh Yadav in the mega auction, KKR bid for him and picked him for the base price of INR 2 crore and now he is the 2nd highest wicket taker with 10 wickets in 5 matches.

The spinners are making a mark this season and currently there are 3 spinners among the top 5 bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav and Wanindu Hasaranga are at the 3rd and 4th spot, respectively. Playing for DC this year, Kuldeep has picked 10 wickets and RCB’s spinner all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has grabbed 8 wickets in 4 matches.

LSG’s pacer Avesh Khan is also taking the batters by surprise with his pace. He is at the 5th spot with 8 wickets in 5 matches.
