Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon has been ruled out of the remainder of the Ashes 2023 series due to injury. He tore his right calf while fielding in the 2nd Test match against England in Lord’s cricket ground. He did not field or bowl afterwards.

It has been informed today that he will not be part of the on-going Ashes series anymore. Australia has not made any changes to the squad so far, so they might go with Todd Murphy to handle the spin department in the 3rd Test. After winning the first two Tests, Australia and England will begin the 3rd Test on 6th July at Headingley, Leeds.

Nathan Lyon didn’t take the field after getting injured but he showed up to bat during Australia’s 2nd innings and helped accumulate 15 runs to the total which helped put up a huge target for England to chase.

Nathan Lyon is going to miss a Test match after playing 100 Test matches in a row. The Lord’s Test was Lyon’s 122nd Test match and he is just 4 wickets away from reaching the 500-wicket mark. It is a rare feat which has been achieved by 7 Test cricketers so far.

Todd Murphy will come into action for the Aussie side, who are leading the series 2-0 after winning the 2nd Test. Murphy impressed everyone when Australia visited India in March this year. He has picked 14 wickets in 4 matches at an impressive average of 25.21.
