Cricket West Indies has released a statement regarding the availability of all the West Indies players for the whole of 15th season of IPL. The statement came a day after the 2 days of IPL mega auction happened where 14 West Indies players were sold to the different franchises.
Many of the West Indies players have managed to take the hefty contracts in this year’s auction. Players like Nicholas Pooran and Odean Smith who bagged contracts of INR 10.75 crore and INR 6 crore, respectively.
The combined value of the West Indies players in this IPL season is valued to be around INR 81 crore.
The IPL is likely to start from March end or start of April and go on till the end of May.
Ricky Skerritt, the president of the Cricket West Indies, said, “I want to congratulate all of the West Indies players who have secured contracts to the various franchises in the IPL, which is the biggest and most lucrative global T20 franchise tournament. But I especially want to applaud those younger players who received their first full IPL contracts.”
