Quetta Gladiators Team News & Playing 11

QTG Team News

Sunil Narine is recovering from a finger injury, but Dwayne Bravo and Harry Gurney are both available now after their Big Bash League exploits. Bravo could replace fellow West Indian Dwayne Smith, but a place for Gurney would mean a change to the balance to the bowling line-up (spinner Fawad Ahmed currently occupies the overseas slot) so he may need to be patient.

QTG Key Players

Shane Watson has hit half-centuries in each of the last two matches, scoring an unbeaten 81 from 55 balls in the win against Islamabad United and following that with 61 from 40 balls against Multan Sultans.

Umar Akmal is also in good batting form, hitting an unbeaten 75 from 50 balls in the first match and following that with 44 from 28 in the second and an unbeaten 17 last time out.

In-form Rilee Rossouw was the top scorer against Multan Sultans, meanwhile. The Bangladesh Premier League’s top run scorer (with 558 in that tournament) recaptured such form with ten fours and a six in his unbeaten 67 from 45 balls.

The bowlers have also been firing for the Gladiators – not least Sohail Tanvir who took 4-21 in the win against Islamabad and followed that up with a tidy 1-29 last time out. Fawad Ahmed took 3-15 and 1-22 in those two matches, meanwhile, and Mohammad Nawaz also has four wickets from three games along with an economy rate of just 6.41 runs per over.

QTG Team Form

Quetta Gladiators have won three from three so far in PSL 2019 season. They beat Peshawar Zalmi first up, as Umar Akmal smashed an unbeaten 75 from 50 balls as they reached 161/4 to win by six wickets with two balls to spare.

Next up, replying to 157/8, Shane Watson scored 81 not out from 55 balls and Akmal hit 44 from 28 as they won by seven wickets with ten balls to spare. Sohail Tanvir (4-21) and Fawad Ahmed (3-15) had earlier led the way with the ball.

Finally, last time out, Watson (61 from 40 balls) and Rilee Rossouw (67* from 45) led the chase of 161 to beat Multan Sultans – the eight-wicket win was sealed, again, with ten balls to spare.

Quetta Gladiators Predicted Playing 11

Lahore Qalandars Team News & Playing 11

LHQ Team News

Mohammad Hafeez’s injury saw means a return to top-level cricket for Salman Butt, the disgraced former Pakistan captain who was banned and jailed for his role in the spot-fixing scandal. He made his first appearance against Multan Sultans, with AB de Villiers captaining the team.

After their crushing defeat to Peshawar Zalmi, Butt was one of three players to slot in - Sandeep Lamichhane, available after the Big Bash League, and all-rounder David Wiese were also brought in, with Anton Devcich, Hardus Viljoen and Hassan Khan making way. Devcich could return in place of Brendan Taylor, who retired hurt last time out.

LHQ Key Players

Rahat Ali claimed 4-29, 3-19 and 1-9 in the first three matches to move past 70 T20 wickets in 60 appearances. Haris Rauf has also impressed, taking 4-23 in the win against Karachi Kings and returning tidy figures of 1-24 against Peshawar Zalmi.

Sandeep Lamichhane’s arrival will only bolster that bowling line-up even more – the Nepalese spinner having helped Melbourne Stars to the Big Bash League final, after earlier taking five wickets in three matches as Nepal beat the UAE in their three-match series.

It is the batsmen who need to impress now, however. AB de Villiers was the stand-out signing, and the South African is fresh from his brilliant form in the Mzansi Super League and Bangladesh Premier League - scoring an unbeaten century among his top innings in the latter. He hit 52 from 29 balls last time out.

Fakhar Zaman top-scored in that match, however, as he did in the first game too - he hit 65 against Islamabad United and has shared some useful partnerships with Sohail Akhtar at the top of the order. Last time out, he scored 63 from 35 balls.

LHQ Team Form

Lahore Qalandars posted 171/8 in their opening game against Islamabad United, of which Fakhar Zaman scored 65, but lost by five wickets in the final over despite Rahat Ali taking 4-29.

They then posted just 138/6 in their second game, only for Ali (3-19) and Haris Rauf (4-23) to bowl them to victory as they dismissed Karachi Kings for 116.

It was their turn to suffer a batting collapse in the third game, however – finishing 78 all out on their way to a seven-wicket defeat to Peshawar Zalmi.

The Qalandars' first taste of the Sharjah wicket came in their fourth game, taking on the Multan Sultans ahead of this match against in-form Quetta. Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets as the Sultans scored 200/6, but Fakhar Zaman (63), AB de Villiers (52*) and David Wiese (45*) led Lahore to a six-wicket win off the final ball.

Lahore Qalandars Predicted Playing 11

Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, AB de Villiers, Salman Butt, Anton Devcich, David Wiese, Agha Salman, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Rahat Ali, Sandeep Lamichhane
