There was one change for Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of their win against Rajasthan Royals with Pat Cummins announcing a switch of South Africans at the toss and Marco Jansen returning in place of Aiden Markram. Jansen’s all-round ability mean he is likely to be selected again.

In spite of the big differences in their records this season, it is Mumbai Indians who are the favourites and can be backed at 1.75. Sunrisers Hyderabad are the underdogs ahead of the game at 2.05.

With the bat, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Tim David are our choices for Mumbai Indians. Rohit has a top score of 105 not out so far in this year’s IPL and he has hit 326 runs in total at a strike-rate of 154.50. Yadav is having another strong IPL with his strike-rate up at 168.11 and having hit three half-centuries from eight innings. However, he will be keen to put on a big show against some other big hitters in this match.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen and Travis Head are our batting picks. Kumar Reddy hit 76 not out from 42 balls against Rajasthan Royals with an innings that included eight sixes and three fours. Head comes into this game needing only 8 runs to reach 3000 career T20 runs. Those runs have come at a strike-rate of 140.46 overall and at 194.11 in the 2024 IPL.
Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thushara and Hardi Pandya are our bowling tips for Mumbai Indians. It has been a very tough campaign for skipper Pandya who has been booed by supporters at home and away. However, he comes into this game after dismissing Sunil Narine and Manish Pandey against KKR. Bumrah took 15+ wickets in every IPL season from 2016-2022 and, although he had to miss last year’s through injury, he is already on 17 dismissals in this campaign.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins and T Natarajan are our recommendations with the ball for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Natarajan dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer in the win over Rajasthan Royals and is the leading wicket taker for the side so far this season. Cummins took 2/35 in the last head to head with Mumbai Indians and he was the only bowler for Sunrisers to have an economy rate under 11.75.
We expect this to be a very well contested game with Sunrisers Hyderabad a changed side this season and on track for a playoff position. However, even though Mumbai Indians are at the bottom of the table, there is so much talent in their team that at some point an opposition is going to be thrashed.
