Central Stags Team News & Playing 11

CD Team News

Felix Murray made his debut in the opening game of this year's competition and Central Stags were unchanged for their second match too. Josh Clarkson and Dane Cleaver will both want to get in the runs, however, if they are to retain their places in the Stags' batting line-up. Dean Foxcroft is in line for a debut in place of Doug Bracewell - who is in the New Zealand ODI squad - while Willem Ludick is another option to bring in.

CD Key Players

Captain Tom Bruce led from the front against Northern Knights, smashing an unbeaten 88 from 52 balls in Central's five-wicket win. He announced himself in this competition back in 2015/16 and has since earned 14 international caps.

International experience extends to left-hander George Worker, meanwhile, who also offers something with the ball and claimed 2-18 against the Knights. He was mostly scoring runs for New Zealand A against India A.

Doug Bracewell was also in that New Zealand A team, and the Black Caps' paceman took 2-19 from his three overs last time out with the ball but has now been added to the senior squad. Worker, Ben Wheeler and Blair Tickner have also picked up wickets so far.

CD Team Form

Beaten finalists last season, Central Districts made a winning start to this year's Super Smash. Facing Northern, the Stags were set 157 to win after Blair Tickner's 3-32 with the ball and two wickets for George Worker. An unbeaten 88 from 52 balls by captain Tom Bruce led the Stags to a five-wicket win with four balls to spare.

Next up, however, the batting let them down - dismissed for just 107 from 17.1 overs. Ben Wheeler claimed 2-12 from four overs and Doug Bracewell 2-19 from three, but they were beaten comfortably, by five wickets with 3.2 overs remaining.

Wellington Firebirds Team News & Playing 11

WEL Team News

Star man with the ball last time out, Jimmy Neesham, is unavailable this time out after being recalled to the New Zealand ODI squad. Troy Johnson, Malcolm Nofal, Ben Sears and Logan van Beek could all come into the starting XI having been named in the 13-man squad - Peter Younghusband is the other player to miss out.

WEL Key Players

With Jimmy Neesham absent, the Firebirds need the rest of their bowling attack to click. Jeetan Patel's spin bowling offers economy and wickets, having impressed in New Zealand and England, though it is now a decade since the veteran spinner played his last T20 international.

With the bat, meanwhile, Michael Bracewell needed just 29 balls to smash 60 against Otago and the 107-run opening partnership with Devon Conway, who has scored 45 and 47 in his two games so far, should have set them up for victory.

WEL Team Form

The 2015 and 2017 champions, Wellington started this year's tournament with a heavy defeat to Northern Districts - who posted 215/6 from their 20 overs and dismissed the Firebirds for 170 - despite Devon Conway's 45 from 23 balls at the top of the order.

Next up, the Firebirds were well set at 107/0 chasing 167 to win - Jimmy Neesham having claimed 4-24 with the ball from his four overs. Conway posted 4, while Michael Bracewell top-scored with 60 from 29 balls, but they collapsed to 113/4 and 125/6 and eventually fell just one run short after losing wickets on the final two balls.

Wellington Firebirds Predicted Playing 11

Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, Adam Hose, Luke Foxcroft, Tom Blundell, Michael Pollard, Logan van Beek, Luke Woodcock, Ollie Newton, Jeetan Patel, Hamish Bennett
