Super Smash T20 cricket league is back for its 18th season and 6 teams will go head to head against each once again in the double round-robin. The last season’s final match, Northern Knights vs Canterbury Kings will repeat again as the opening match of the upcoming season on 23rd December, 2022. The final of the Super Smash T20 will take place on 11th February, 2023.
Looking at the squads and recent form, we are backing the last season’s runner-up team - Canterbury Kings to lift the Super Smash 2022-23 trophy.
Some of the key players of the Kings are skipper Cole McConchie, who scored 193 runs and picked 6 wickets in the last season, Chad Bowes and Cam Fletcher, both scored 300+ runs with a good average.
Matt Henry, Nuttall, Todd Astle and Henry Shipley were in good shape with the ball last season and they make up for a strong bowling unit.

Super Smash follows the T20 format of the gameplay in which 20 overs are allotted to each side per innings. The tournament is played in a double round-robin format. At the end of the league stage, the team at the top of the table will qualify for the final. An elimination final will take place between 2nd and 3rd position teams. The winner of the Elimination final match will face the table topper in the Final match.
Super Smash 2022-23 Final will take place on 11th February, 2023.

Captain - Robert O’Donnell
Auckland Aces finished last season at the 5th spot with 4 wins out of total 10 matches. Skipper Robert O’Donnell was the leading run scorer of the last season with 227 runs in 10 matches at an average of 25.22.

There were some quality all-round performances as well like Henry Shipley who scored 144 runs and picked 18 wickets. Skipper McConchie also gave good performances with bat and ball. He scored 193 runs and picked 6 wickets.

Batter Dane Cleaver scored 369 runs and finished as the 2nd highest run getter of the last season. A total of 5 batsmen scored 200+ runs for Canterybury.
At the bowling end, Doug Bracewell and Seth Rance picked 14 and 15 wickets, respectively while other bowlers couldn’t fetch many wickets.

A brilliant all-round performance by Mitchell Santner was seen in the last season. He scored 158 runs in just 4 innings and picked 8 wickets. Joe Walker and Anurag Verma were the top wicket takers for the Northern Knights.

Michael Bracewell was the top all-rounder in the last season. He was the leading run scorer with 478 runs at an average of 79.66 and he picked 6 wickets as well.
In the bowling department, we saw an average performance overall. Logan van Beek picked 11 wickets while Ben Sears picked 13 wickets. Rest of bowlers couldn’t double digit figures in the wickets tally.

New Zealand’s homegrown T20 cricket league, Super Smash is back for its 18th season which is scheduled to kick-start on 23rd December, 2022. The opening match will feature the current champions, Northern Brave taking on the runner-up of last season, Canterbury Kings.
Northern Brave lifted their 3rd Super Smash trophy in the last season and they did it under the captaincy of Jeet Raval. Michael Bracewell finished the last season as the leading run scorer with 478 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 148.91. Henry Shipley picked 18 wickets in 11 matches at an impressive average of 14.11.
Dream11 Super Smash is one of the oldest T20 cricket leagues and it is considered among the top leagues.
