Heinrich Klaasen’s omission from the South African ODI squad is a boost for the Titans and he will look to impress the national selectors as he fights for a recall ahead of the World Cup. Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi are in the squad, however, leaving the Titans short in the bowling department.

Tony de Zorzi and Dean Elgar have already both hit centuries so far in this year’s tournament. De Zorzi hit an unbeaten 115 as the Titans won their opening game, and scored 205 runs across the first three games in total, while Elgar marked his first appearance of the season with 137 in a losing cause against the Lions.

Heinrich Klaasen remains available after being overlooked by South Africa. He hit 114 runs in his first three matches, including 82 in that match against the Lions. Chris Morris also hit a half-century in that game too – taking just 20 balls to do so.

With Ngidi and Shamsi missing with the ball, they now need Morris and Junior Dala to step it up in the bowling department. Both boast international experience.

The Titans sealed an eye-catching nine-wicket win chasing 263 against the Knights in their first game but failed to back it up. Tony de Zorzi’s unbeaten 115 led the way in that game, as Titans won in just 38.4 overs, but they lost their next two games.

Lungi Ngidi claimed 4-47 but could not prevent Dolphins posting 308/7 in their next match – Titans finishing 12 runs short despite 89 more from De Zorzi.

And a total of 309/7 – powered by 137 from Dean Elgar, 82 by Heinrich Klaasen and Chris Morris’ quickfire 50 – was also not enough against the Lions. They suffered an eight-wicket defeat, raising more questions about their bowling attack.
