Chance of Winning

Our Prediction

Helsinki CC are favourites to win

Vantaa CC vs Helsinki CC, FPL T20

After starting their title defence with a win against Vantaa CC, Helsinki CC will be desperate to get back on track when they face the same opponents in their eighth match of the 2020 Finnish T20 Premier League campaign. The match takes place at the Kerava National Cricket Ground on July 11 and the live action is scheduled to start at 18:00 local time.

Helsinki won their first two matches in a successful start to their title defence, but the defending champions have not won since, suffering four defeats from their next four completed matches. The losing streak leaves them sixth in the table and well off the pace for a top-four spot at the halfway stage.

Vantaa CC are one place below, meanwhile. They have won just twice this season but another dismal batting display last time out – scoring just 84/8 in a heavy defeat to GYM Helsinki Gymkhana – means Helsinki should fancy their chances of getting back to winning ways.

Toss Prediction

Batting first has generally been more successful. After a dismal display chasing last time out, Vantaa may want to bat first this time.

Weather Report

More rain is on the way on Saturday, unfortunately. It is supposed to ease in the evening, but the key will be how much damage has already been done.

Pitch Condition

After a wet day, the Kerava pitch – and slow outfield – tends to mean scores are low. Generally batting first is key.

Vantaa Cricket Club Team News & Playing 11

VCC Team News

Vantaa CC made several changes last time out and fell to a big defeat, which could prompt another rethink this time.

VCC Key Players

  • Ameer Hamsa Warsha: Took three wickets when these teams last met and has nine in total so far this season.
  • Chanaka Jayasinghe: The only batsman with more than 100 runs for Vantaa CC so far this season.
  • Ranuka Shiran Fernando: Unsuccessfully up the order last time out, but his bowling has at least been a little more consistent with seven wickets.

VCC Team Form

Vantaa beat Greater Helsinki CC for just their second win of the season but they could not back up that three-wicket win as they posted a dismal 84/8 from 18 overs in a DLS-method defeat to GYM Helsinki Gymkhana last time out. Vantaa’s batting has been their biggest issue so far, with only Chanka Jayasinghe passing 100 runs in total from the first seven games.

Vantaa Cricket Club Predicted Playing 11

Madura Hettiarachilage, Ursan Tavernier, Manoj Mahamada, Ravi Sanjeewa, Chanaka Jayasinghe (wk), Ranuka Shiran Fernando (c), Nipuna Patabendi, Sanjeewa Peththahandi, Lahiru Liyanage, Nalaka Hangamuwe, Ameer Hamsa Warsha

Helsinki Cricket Club Team News & Playing 11

HCC Team News

Abdul Ahad Qureshi and Abdul Wahid Qureshi were up the batting order last time out, and they could be joined by the returning Ghulam Abbas Butt this time. On paper, it should be a strong batting line-up, but nobody has performed consistently enough.

HCC Key Players

  • Khalid Rahman Mangal: Top of Helsinki’s run-scoring charts with 127 for the season, albeit he fell short last time out.
  • Ghulam Abbas Butt: Missed last time out, the opening batsman has taken five wickets and scored 72 runs across the four games he has played in.
  • Zakiullah Kamal: Moved to eight wickets in six matches last time out, when he finished with figures of 1-21 from his four overs.

HCC Team Form

Helsinki remain winless since opening the tournament with a pair of back-to-back wins. They scored 113/7 in a nine-wicket defeat to SKK Rapids and 114/9 in an 11-run loss to Empire CC to highlight the difference between themselves and the top two teams this season.

Helsinki Cricket Club Predicted Playing 11

Ghulam Abbas Butt, Khalid Rahman Mangal, Zahidullah Kamal, Abdul Ahad Qureshi, Aniketh Pushthay (c, wk), Maneesh Chauhan, Zakiullah Kamal, Obaidullah Sadiqui, Abdul Wahid Qureshi, Adnan Syed

VCC vs HCC Dream11 Prediction

  • Wicket-keeper(s)

Chanaka Jayasinge is Vantaa CC’s top scorer so far this season and, while he has less Dream 11 points than Anik Pusthay, he could be better pick as an integral part of this team.

  • Batsmen

Khalid Rahman Mangal is the stand-out batting choice. He opens the batting for Helsinki and at nine credits is good value too. Elsewhere, Manoj Mahamada and Ursan Tavernier are useful batsmen for Vantaa, though neither has delivered consistently. A better option could be Abdul Wahid Qureshi, who is nine credits, and was pushed up the order by Helsinki last time out. He too would be a gamble though.

  • All-rounder(s)

Ranuka Shiran Fernando and Zahikullah Kamal are both ten credits but both men are key players for their team and in wicket-taking form too. Both are worth picking. Ameer Hamsa Warsha is 9.5 credits but he bowled well when these teams last met and has also been in good all-round form. Ghulam Abbas Butt and Nipuna Patabendi are difficult to leave out, but Abdul Ahad Qureshi’s form has been improving game on game and last season’s top FPL run-scorer could be getting back to his best. If he does, he is worth selecting at eight credits.

  • Bowlers

Madura Hettiarachilage has been up and down the batting order but his all-round potential makes him a good option. With both teams out of form, you are gambling on team selection. If Adnan Syed and Obaidullah Sadiqui play for Helsinki, they could be key against an out-of-form Vantaa batting line-up.

  • Captain/vice-captain

Ranuka Shiran Fernando has been inconsistent but when he performs he has showed why he would be a good pick as captain or vice-captain. Zahikullah Kamal has the wicket-taking form, while Ameer Hamsa Warsha has been consistent with the ball too. The latter could be the top all-round option.

VCC vs HCC Dream11 Team Prediction

  • Batsmen:Khalid Rahman Mangal, Manoj Mahamada, Ursan Tavernier

  • All Rounder:Ranuka Shiran Fernando (vc), Zahikullah Kamal, Ameer Hamsa Warsha (c), Abdul Ahad Qureshi

  • Wicket Keeper:Chanaka Jayasinge

  • Bowler:Madura Hettiarachilage, Adnan Syed, Obaidullah Sadiqui
