Sussex Team News & Playing 11
SUS Team News
Sussex Sharks have some eye-catching talent in their ranks for this year’s Vitality T20 Blast tournament. Luke Wright captains a team which also boasts Phil Salt, Laurie Evans and Tymal Mills, while David Wiese and Rashid Khan fill the overseas slots. All five have enjoyed T20 experience around the globe.
SUS Key Players
Laurie Evans: The top scorer in last year’s competition, hitting seven half-centuries in 14 innings on his way to 614 runs. The big-hitting batsmen has since enjoyed success in Afghanistan and Bangladesh on the franchise circuit.
Rashid Khan: Unable to make the impact at the World Cup that was expected of him, but the Afghan leg-spinner remains the foremost T20 bowler in world cricket according to the ICC. This is the 20-year-old’s preferred format, having excelled around the globe.
Luke Wright: The former England all-rounder and Sussex captain has proved he still has plenty to offer in T20 cricket. He scored 452 runs in 12 innings last season and his strike rate of 144.09 across his 279 T20 innings shows what he can offer with the bat.
SUS Team Form
Sussex Sharks reached the final of last year’s competition only to lose to Worcestershire Rapids in the showpiece. They had previously beaten Durham in the quarter-finals and Somerset in the semi-finals, having finished third in the South Group.
Sussex Predicted Playing 11
Philip Salt, Luke Wright (c), Laurie Evans, Delray Rawlins, David Wiese, Ben Brown (wk), Rashid Khan, Ollie Robinson, Danny Briggs, Tymal Mills, Reece Topley

HAM Team News
On a used Rose Bowl wicket, Hampshire narrowly missed out against Kent last time out and, having stuck with the same team that had been due to play Sussex in the opening game, they could stick with that line-up again.
HAM Key Players
James Vince: England’s World Cup winner, the Hampshire captain, scored a 35-ball 51 in the opening game to lead their batting. He previously fired them to the One Day Cup final, but his World Cup selection cost him a place in the showpiece.
Liam Dawson: Did not play during the World Cup, but the spinning all-rounder was another whose form in the One Day Cup earned a place in the England squad. He took 2-25 from his four overs in the first game of this tournament.
Rilee Rossouw: The South African has scored big runs in T20 across the globe in the past 12 months, including finishing as the top run scorer in the Bangladesh Premier League with 558 from 14 matches, and helping Quetta Gladiators to Pakistan Super League success.
HAM Team Form
After the frustration of their first match being rained off against Sussex, Hampshire opened their campaign against Kent instead. In a low-scoring game, James Vince’s 51 helped the hosts to 145/5 but, despite Kyle Abbott (3-22) and Liam Dawson (2-25) bowling well, Kent got home with two wickets and one ball to spare.
Hampshire Predicted Playing 11
Aneurin Donald, Rilee Rossouw, James Vince (c), Sam Northeast, James Fuller, Chris Morris, Liam Dawson, Lewis McManus (wk), Chris Wood, Kyle Abbott, Mason Crane
