Evin Lewis scored 222 runs in the Caribbean Premier League last year. He could open the innings for St Kitts and will be expected to take the team off to a flying start. Lendl Simmons and skipper Faf du Plessis will be the two other key batsmen at the top of the order. St Kitts will need these three to click if they are to make their scorecard look good.
Tabraiz Shamsi will be the one to watch out for when St Kitts come out to bowl. The spinner, with 11 wickets, is the leading wicket-taker for his side and the slowish nature of the pitch should make him a dangerous bowler. Leg-spinner Samuel Badree should be hard to score off while Carlos Brathwaite will look to keep things tight at the other end.
Skipper Martin Guptill and Assad Fudadin could open the batting for Guyana. Guptill likes to attack the bowlers and it won't be easy for St Kitts bowlers to stop him once settled. Dwayne Smith is a dangerous batsman in T20 format and Guyana Amazon Warriors should get into a strong position if these three go on to score big.
With the ball, Adam Zampa will be the biggest threat for St Kitts. Batsmen could find it difficult to read his legbreaks on a surface where he is expected to extract turn and bounce. Devendra Bishoo is another leggie who could trouble the batsmen and dry up the runs. Sohail Tanvir brings good variations in pace and his ability to bowl yorkers could be utilized in the death overs.
Guyana Amazon Warriors boast an impressive record in the Caribbean Premier League. They are the runners-up of the 2013 and 2014 editions and finished as semi-finalists in 2015. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots played their first CPL last year where they were beaten twice by Guyana and failed to reach the playoffs. But playing at their home ground in Basseterre could give St Kitts an advantage. They are a strong bowling unit with the likes of Brathwaite, Perera, Shamsi and Badree which makes them a formidable force in home conditions.
Though Guyana Amazon Warriors have been good in all the three previous seasons, we reckon that St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have a strong chance of winning this match at their home ground.
