SA vs AUS 3rd ODI Match Prediction & Betting Tips
South Africa face a must-win situation against Australia in the 3rd ODI. The match will be played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom and will start at 4:30 PM IST on September 12.
Australia’s performance on the South Africa tour keeps on getting better with every game. The visitors have been phenomenal so far, winning all the five games they have played. After winning the T20I series 3-0, Australia have taken a 2-0 lead in the ODI series after beating South Africa by 123 runs in the second ODI. Australia posted 392-8 while batting first, courtesy of centuries by David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne before bowling out South Africa for 269.
The hosts have been poor, mostly because of low returns from the batters. Expectations were high from Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaassen, David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen but the batters have been below par. South Africa now face a must-win situation in the third ODI if they are to keep the series alive but given how dominant Australia have been on the tour, South Africa will have to be at their best to give them a fight.

SA vs AUS Match Toss Prediction
The wicket is expected to be a batting-friendly deck and with small boundaries, captains will back their teams to chase big scores so the skipper winning the toss should bowl.
SA vs AUS Pitch Report
The pitch should be a good one to bat. The surface will offer some movement with the new ball but it won’t last long. Batters should be able to score freely once they see through the new ball.
Potchefstroom Weather Report
The weather will be clear, with the temperature hovering between 22 and 7 degrees. Rain is not much of a concern.

South Africa Team News & Playing 11
SA Team News
South Africa have been poor in the two ODIs. They made a few changes in the previous game and brought Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shami, and Andile Phehlukwayo. Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the 3rd ODI due to back spasm so Wayne Parnell can replace him in the team.
SA Key Players
- Quinton De Kock – QDK showed some form in the previous game and scored 45 in 30 balls. De Kock is a big player for South Africa and runs from him at the top can do wonders for the tumbling middle order of South Africa.
- Temba Bavuma – Bavuma is the only batter who has somewhat resisted the Aussie bowling. He was decent in the T20I series and scored a brilliant century in the first ODI. He needs to come good for his team for South Africa to make a comeback into the series.
- Kagiso Rabada - Rabada was smashed in the 2nd ODI like every other bowler but the veteran pacer is known for his comebacks so it will be interesting to see how he bounces back.
SA Team Form
South Africa have been poor in the series. The lack of big scores from senior batters has hurt the team.

Australia Team News & Playing 11
AUS Team News
Australia are using the series to give their World Cup players a shot in the playing 11. They handed debut caps to Tim David and Aaron Hardie in the 2nd ODI while resting Josh Hazlewood and Marcus Stonis. We feel Cameron Green can come in place of Aaron Hardie in the 3rd ODI.
AUS Key Players
- Mitchell Marsh – Marsh has failed in the first two ODI but he has been in great nick on the tour and will be keen to bounce back in style.
- Marnus Labuschagne – Labuschagne managed to retain his place in the playing 11 despite not being part of the World Cup squad after a match-winning innings of 80 in the first game. He then scored a brilliant 124 in the second ODI. He looks in great touch and is making a strong case for a slot in the World Cup team. Notably, teams can still make changes to the World Cup squad.
- Nathan Ellis – Nathan Ellis had a good T20I series and he made an impact in the 2nd ODI too, picking two wickets for 32 runs. He will be key with the ball, especially in high-scoring games as batters will be looking to score aggressively and he can outfox them with his variations.
AUS Team Form
Australia have been top-notch on the tour, winning all games comprehensively. The batters have been terrific, and the bowling has been equally good.
Australia Predicted Playing 11
David Warner, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitch Marsh (c), Josh Inglish, Tim David, Alex Carey (wk), Sean Abbott/Spencer Johnson, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa
South Africa vs Australia Head to Head
South Africa have been below par against Australia in the series but their overall record has been good against the visitors.
