New Zealand Team News & Playing 11

NZ Team News

Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner were replaced by Colin de Grandhomme and Ish Sodhi for the second ODI, while Matt Henry is yet to make an appearance in this series. Henry could return for the third ODI as New Zealand look to find a way to halt the momentum of India's in-form batsmen.

NZ Key Players

Kane Williamson started the series with another ODI half-century, having hit two in the series win against Sri Lanka too. Several New Zealand batsmen were in top form ahead of the ODI series, not least Ross Taylor - who hit 90 and 137 in the final two games, the latter his 20th ODI century.

Martin Guptill also scored a century in that series, as did Henry Nicholls, and New Zealand need their big hitters to get back to top form if they are to rescue this series.

The same is true of the bowlers. Lockie Ferguson's three wickets takes him to 20 in his last seven matches but he was expensive last time out. Ish Sodhi came into this series with eight wickets in three games against Sri Lanka, meanwhile, and was the most economical bowler last time out.

NZ Team Form

New Zealand had won four of their last five ODI matches, including all three against Sri Lanka, prior to losing the first two games of this series. They now look set for a first ODI series defeat since losing 3-2 at home to England last year.

The next series saw them taking on Pakistan in the UAE and they won the first match by 47 runs when Ross Taylor hit 80 with the bat and Trent Boult claimed a hat-trick with the ball.

Taylor top-scored again in the next match, with 86* in a below-par total of 209/9, but they lost by six wickets. Rain then curtailed the decider after Lockie Ferguson had taken 5-45 to help restrict Pakistan to 278/8.

The next series, at home to Sri Lanka, was a batting masterclass by New Zealand, as Martin Guptill scored 138 and Ross Taylor hit a half-century in a total of 371/7 in the first game - a 45-run win. Next up, Taylor hit 90 in a total of 319/7 on the way to a 21-run win, before 137 alongside Henry Nicholls' unbeaten 124 in a score of 356/4 in the final game - New Zealand earning a 115-run win and a series whitewash.

New Zealand Predicted Playing 11

Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Latham, Doug Bracewell, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Ish Sodhi

India Team News & Playing 11

IND Team News

All-rounder Hardik Pandya is back in the India squad after being suspended for comments he made on TV. With Vijay Shankar - the man who replaced him in the squad - having had minimal impact on the two games so far, Pandya could come in to replace him. They were unchanged for the first two matches.

IND Key Players

Shikhar Dhawan has hit two half-centuries so far, with 75* and 66 in his two innings. Rohit Sharma hit 87 last time out, meanwhile, after sharing a 154-run opening partnership with Dhawan.

Sharma has now scored 672 runs in his last 10 ODI innings, while Virat Kohli has 694. The Indian captain hit three back-to-back centuries against West Indies in this format, and one century and one half-century against Australia.

MS Dhoni hit 48 from 33 balls last time out, meanwhile, to continue the form he had showed against Australia. A sluggish half-century in the first match was followed by two match-winning knocks - 55* in the second match and 87* in the third.

With the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar passed 100 ODI wickets in the series against Australia, while Yuzvendra Chahal took 6-42 in the final game and has followed that with two wickets in each of the first two games of this series. Kuldeep Yadav has taken four wickets in each game, meanwhile.

IND Team Form

India's resurgent ODI form continues - they have won their last four ODIs and have been in top form since a defeat to England in July.

Since the Joe Root-inspired defeat in England, India have won the Asia Cup - with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in top form with the bat. They bowled Bangladesh out for 222 on their way to win the final by three wickets.

Virat Kohli hit three back-to-back centuries against the West Indies, meanwhile, as India won the last two games to claim a 3-1 series win. In the fourth ODI, Rohit Sharma scored 162 in a total of 377/5 in a 224-run win, and they bowled West Indies out for 104 in the final game to claim a nine-wicket win in 14.5 overs.

The tours of Australia and New Zealand have followed. In the ODI series against the former, Virat Kohli's century and MS Dhoni's half-century levelled the series in the second match, before Yuzvendra Chahal's 6-42 helped bowl the hosts out for 230 in the decider - Dhoni leading the chase with 87* in a seven-wicket win.

New Zealand vs India Betting Odds

India's two wins in the first two games mean they are now just 1.57 to beat New Zealand in the third ODI with Bet365. New Zealand are 2.37 to win.

New Zealand's problem has been their batting - not firing to the standards they did against Sri Lanka last time out. Ross Taylor came into the series in fine form though, and should not be discounted being their top batsman in this match at 5.00.

India have Shikhar Dhawan in good form and he is 4.50 with Bet365 to be their top batsman. Rohit Sharma - top scorer last time out - is 4.00.

Kuldeep Yadav has eight wickets in two games with the ball, meanwhile. He is 3.75 to be India's top bowler for a third consecutive game.

🏆 New Zealand vs India Prediction

With Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal keeping the New Zealand batsmen in check, India can seal a series victory with two games to spare.
