Warwickshire are favorites to win
Leicestershire will take on Warwickshire at Grace Road, Leicester. This T20 match begins at 18:30 local time on Friday 26th May.
It was a disappointing start to the campaign for Leicestershire who were beaten by Lancashire Lightning by 8 wickets with 51 balls remaining on Thursday afternoon. Only two players made double figure scores at Old Trafford and that must change in this match if the Foxes are to be competitive.
Wiaan Mulder top scored with 25 runs from 24 balls against Lancashire and wicket-keeper Harry Swindells made 17 not out from 18 balls. The likes of Nick Welch at the top of the order and skipper Colin Ackermann will both have pressure on them to make big scores in this match.
England international spinner Rehan Ahmed and South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder were the only wicket takers for Leicestershire on Thursday. Pace bowler Naseem Shah went wicketless but he should get much more assistance on this wicket on Friday evening.
It will not take much of an improvement from Leicestershire for them to push Warwickshire more than they pushed Lancashire Lightning. They were completely outplayed on Thursday.
It was a convincing 34 run victory over Yorkshire Vikings for Warwickshire at Edgbaston last Saturday and, under the leadership of Alex Davies, the Bears will travel to Leicester full of confidence for this match. Glenn Maxwell will be available for this game.
There were big runs for Sam Hain (83 not out from 45 balls) and Chris Benjamin (46 runs from 28 balls) in the win over Yorkshire as Warwickshire posted 200-6. Maxwell, who impressed during this year’s IPL, will make the batting line-up even stronger in this match.
With only one ball left of Yorkshire Vikings’ innings, Warwickshire bowled them out for 166 at Edgbaston. It could have been for a much lower total as the Vikings were 66-7 at one point. Henry Brookes took 4-32 with Craig Miles and Chris Woakes both taking two wickets each.
It was a fantastic team performance from Warwickshire on Saturday and their team looks like being even stronger on paper ahead of this fixture.
This Vitality T20 Blast game will be played at Grace Road, Leicester. In last year’s T20 Blast, the average first innings score at this venue was 163 and any score over 170 will be tough to chase down in the second innings.

Leicestershire will be determined to put in a more competitive performance in this match but it will take a lot more of an improvement if they are to rival Warwickshire in this clash. Realistically, Naseem Shah is the Foxes only match-winner whereas Warwickshire have plenty of players who can stand out. We are backing the Bears to win this game.
