After going all the way to the final in 2022, Lancashire got off  to a winning start in their opening game of this campaign against Derbyshire Falcons on the weekend. Although some of their key players have now finished their IPL seasons, we are not expecting any changes to the team for thia game.

Luke Wells was the top performer with the bat for Lancashire in the win over Derbyshire Falcons. The opener hit nine fours and three sixes in his 35 ball 66. New Zealanders Daryl Mitchell and Colin de Grandhomme both played attacking innings and will be well worth watching at the crease again in this match.

Luke Wood comes into this game in excellent form after producing another T20 wicket taking performance against Derbyshire Falcons. He dismissed Haider Ali with the first ball of the innings and went on to pick up the wickets of two more of the top five batters. Matt Parkinson should get some turn on this pitch.

It was a convincing four wicket win with four balls remaining for Lancashire in their opening match and they will be looking to build on that performance in this game.

Leicestershire

There is plenty of exciting talent on display at Leicestershire and they will travel to the famous Old Trafford believing that they can defeat the hosts in this game. This is the opening match of the 2023 Vitality Blast for the Foxes who finished in sixth place, one point behind fourth in the 2022 tournament.

Skipper Colin Ackermann was Leicestershire’ most successful batter last year but he only hit three half centuries and more runs across the side will be required this year if they are to get in the top four positions. However, we expect the Foxes to find it tough against this Lancashire attack.
