India Legends are favorites to win
India Legends will take on Australia Legends in Semi-Final 1 of the 2022 Road Safety World Series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium. The game begins at 19:30 local time on Wednesday.
Sachin Tendulkar’s side finished in third place in the group stage with a record of two wins and three no-results across their five matches. They thrashed South Africa Legends by 61 runs in Match 1 and beat England Legends by 40 runs in their only completed games.
India Legends have made scores of 217-4 from 20 overs and 170-5 from 15 overs in their two victories in the 2022 Road Safety World Series. Stuart Binny top scored with 82 not out in their win over South Africa Legends before Sachin Tendulkar scored 40 runs from 20 balls against England Legends.
In the two games when India have bowled 20 overs in the tournament, they have taken nine wickets in both matches. One of those games was a no-result against Bangladesh Legends when Pragyan Ojha took 3-36. In the win over England Legends, Rajesh Pawar took 3-12.
The rain has been India Legends’ toughest opponent during the competition with the hosts winning every completed match. They have not lost a game all campaign.
By beating England Legends by six wickets on Tuesday evening, Australia Legends finished level on points with India Legends in the group stage table but finished above them with a superior net-run-rate. The Australians have won three matches, lost one and had one no-result.
Shane Watson top scored for Australia Legends in both of their last two group stage games with scores of 47 against England Legends 88 runs against 50 balls. He is the skipper of the side, opens the batting and is the highest run scorer in the competition.
Spinner Jason Krejza took 2-28 from four overs in Tuesday’s win over England Legends. Pace bowler Brett Lee and Bryce McGain both took a wicket each with right arm medium pace bowler Nathan Reardon also taking two wickets from his three overs.
Australia Legends began the tournament slowly with a defeat and a no-result but have won each of their last three games to finish in second place.
The match will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Raipur. We have seen big scores on this pitch with the spinners having the most joy of the bowlers.
