The bottom two teams in the South Group of the 2020 Vitality T20 Blast meet when Hampshire host Essex Eagles at the Ageas Bowl on September 16. The match is scheduled to start at 14:00 local time.
Hampshire have won just one game so far and suffered their fifth defeat of the season last time out when they were unable to defend 182/6 against Kent Spitfires. Their one win did come against Essex, however – Mason Crane starring with the ball in a five-wicket win.
Essex, the defending champions, have endured a tough campaign with that loss to Hampshire one of four so far. Prior to their last match, they had just a tie to their credit but Dan Lawrence smashed 81 from 44 balls and then took 2-3 in one over as they hit 197/5 to beat Sussex Sharks by 12 runs. They therefore have finally got some momentum to build on.
