After two defeats in their opening matches of this season, Gloucestershire finally got their first victory of the campaign with a narrow 2 run win over Middlesex on Monday. The victory was much needed as three successive defeats would have been hard to bounce back from.

Miles Hammond top scored for Gloucestershire against Middlesex with 59 runs from 42 balls, an innings which included four fours and three sixes. Keeper-batter Grant Roelofsen hit his highest score of the campaign in the win on Monday.

In spite of getting the crucial win to put points on the board for the first time this year, Gloucestershire’s bowlers took only six wickets on Monday. Oliver Price took 3-21 with Tom Smith and Marchant de Lange both picking up a wicket each. David Payne went wicketless but was the most economical.

Gloucestershire’s last two matches have seen margins of victory and defeat of 2 runs and 2 wickets. The win on Monday gives them a big boost.
