Australia Legends are favorites to win
England Legends will take on Australia Legends in Match 20 of the 2022 Road Safety World Series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium. The game begins at 19:30 local time on Tuesday.
Ian Bell’s side are joint bottom in the table with Bangladesh Legends after picking up only two points all competition. The two points came from a no-result against South Africa Legends in Match 7 with defeats coming against Sri Lanka Legends, West Indies Legends and India Legends.
England Legends’ highest run scorer in the tournament is their captain Ian Bell who has made 73 runs from the 80 balls he has faced across the three games. Former Surrey all-rounder, Rikki Clarke, is the only player for England Legends to have made a half-century.
Former Lancashire spinner, Stephen Parry, has been England Legends’ top wicket taker by some distance in the competition. He has taken four wickets, including 3-19 against India Legends, with no other bowler in the squad contributing two dismissals.
England Legends have been very disappointing this year and look to be missing their captain from the 2021 campaign, Kevin Pietersen.
The newcomers to the tournament this year have picked up 10 points from four games so far and a win in this match should see them qualify for the semi-finals. In this campaign they have beaten Bangladesh Legends and West Indies Legends in their last game.
Requiring 179 to beat West Indies Legends on Sunday in Dehradun, captain Shane Watson stepped up at the top of the order and delivered 88 runs from 50 balls. He shared an opening partnership of 130 inside 12 overs with Alex Doolan who made 56 runs from 30 balls.
Former Australian international spinner Bryce McGain was the Player of the Match on Sunday after recording figures of 3-23 from his four overs. He not only dismissed the in-form Dwayne Smith on 65, but also picked up the wickets of Narsingh Deonarine and Danza Hyatt.
Australia Legends did not win either of their opening two matches in the tournament but are now looking for their third successive victory in this game.
The match will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Raipur. Although the surface will be hard, the overhead conditions will make batting tough in this game.
