Hazratullah Zazai is one of the most exciting emerging T20 prospects in world cricket, meanwhile. His eye-catching performances in the Afghanistan Premier League included one knock of 124 from 55 balls, while he also hit six sixes in an over on his way to setting the joint-fastest T20 half-century.He is one of the Dynamites’ replacement overseas players and the other, Andre Russell, was also in good form with bat and ball in 2018. After missing most of the Afghanistan Premier League due to injury, fit-again Russell will hope to replicate his Caribbean Premier League form – which included taking a hat-trick and smashing an unbeaten 121 from 49 balls in one game.
Countryman Rovman Powell joins up after scoring a half-century in West Indies’ T20 series win in Bangladesh before Christmas, while he was in devastating batting form as he helped Northern Warriors win the T10 League. Powell scored 80 from 35 balls in the qualifier final and 61 from 25 in the final. Sunil Narine also showed good form in that tournament, with bat and ball, ahead of linking up with Dhaka Dynamites.

Rajshahi Kings opted to retain their Bangladeshi core for this year’s tournament and overhaul their overseas options instead. Among those kept were Mehedi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman and the former will take over as captain for this season. Qais Ahmad, Isuru Udana, Ryan ten Doeschate, Laurie Evans and Soumya Sarkar are among the new faces in the squad.

Though expensive, Mustafizur Rahman took five wickets in the recent Bangladesh vs West Indies series – all at Dhaka – and now has 98 wickets in his 76 previous T20 matches. He will lead a bowling attack that also boasts Isuru Udana – the leading wicket taker in the Afghanistan Premier League – and Qais Ahmad, the teenager who finished just two wickets behind Udana and boasted a great economy rate in that tournament. Ahmad’s figures included 5-18 as Balkh Legends won the final.
One of Ahmad’s victims, Laurie Evans, will now be his team-mate. The top run scorer in the T20 Blast in the English summer, he also scored three half-centuries on his way to 305 runs in the APL.
