Comilla Victorians defeated Fortune Barishal by 1 run in the final of the last season and lifted their 3rd BPL title.
This year we will see some big changes as many previous players are not going to be part of the tournament in the upcoming season. But on the other hand, we will see a long list of big names of T20 cricket in the next season.
Looking at the squads, we are backing Fortune Barishal to emerge as the winning team of the upcoming season.
One of the best all-rounders, Shakib Al Hasan puts a great intensity into both batting and bowling line-up. Iftikhar Ahmed will join the side this year and we saw his brilliant form in the recently held T10 league.
Afghan batters Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are powerhouse t20 players and they will join Barishal side.
At the bowling end, we will see Naveen-ul-Haq, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Kesrick Williams, Usman Qadir which looks like a strong blend of spin and pace attack. Sri Lankan batter Kusal Perera is also going to be a part of the Barishal camp this year and he might get some chances as well.
7 teams will participate in this year’s BPL compared to the last year’s six. 2 new teams are introduced out of which Dhaka Dominators will replace Minister Dhaka and a brand new franchise, Rangpur Riders will participate for the first time.
Since its first edition in 2012, Bangladesh Premier League follows the Twenty20 format of Cricket in which each side gets a 20-over inning to score runs. The upcoming 2023 edition will follow the same format.
As far as the tournament format is concerned, it follows the double round-robin and the knockouts in which each team goes head to head twice against all the other teams. The top 4 teams will proceed into the knockouts which consists of two qualifiers, one eliminator and a final.
The final of the BPL 2023 will take place on 16th February, 2023.
The next season of Bangladesh Premier League will be played across 3 venues, like the previous season. The final match is scheduled to take place at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
