Chattogram Challengers will be led by Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah in this seventh season of the Bangladesh Premier League. Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Rubel Hossain and Nasir Hossain are some of the local players in the squad apart from the skipper. Lendl Simmons, Imad Wasim, Avishka Fernando and Kesrick Williams form a part of the overseas contingent. Earlier, there was confusion over Chris Gayle's participation this season but it has now been confirmed that the West Indian batting legend will be teaming up with the Challengers after January 4.
Imrul Kayes, Avishka Fernando and Lendl Simmons have all done a good job with the bat for their respective national teams and the trio will hold the key for the Challengers this BPL in terms of batting. Mahmudullah is the one player in this side who can make healthy contributions with both bat and ball. Kesrick Williams, Rubel Hossain and Rayad Emit will be the main threats in this pace attack while Imad Wasim will be the one to watch out for when it comes to spin.
Mahmudullah (c), Chadwick Walton, Avishka Fernando, Imrul Kayes, Ryan Burl, Nurul Hasan, Muktar Ali, Rubel Hossain, Kesrick Williams, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Enamul Haque jnr, Lendl Simmons, Rayad Emrit, Junaid Siddique, Nasir Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Jubair Hossain, Imad Wasim, Pinak Ghosh, Muhammad Musa
Chattogram Challengers are 4.33 with Bet365 to win the Bangladesh Premier League 2019-20.
Cumilla Warriors (previously Comilla Victorians) won their second BPL title last time in what was only their fourth appearance in the tournament. They even emerged winners in 2015 in which they made their debut. 2016 was disappointing for them where they ended up sixth in the league standings but they bounced back strongly next year to make the playoffs after topping the standings. The defending champions finished second on the points table last season with eight wins and four losses. They beat Rangpur Riders by 8 wickets in Qualifier 1 before defeating Dhaka Dynamites by 17 runs in the final. Tamim Iqbal was the leading run-getter for Cumilla Warriors and he finished as the tournament's second-best batsman with 467 runs. Mohammad Saifuddin finished among the tournament's top five bowlers with 20 wickets which included a four-wicket haul.
Cumilla Warriors have assembled a pretty strong team for the BPL 07. Their batting unit includes Bangladesh internationals Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman along with Kusal Perera, Dawid Malan and Stiaan van Zyl. Dasun Shanaka is one of the all-rounders in the squad and the Sri Lankan will be leading the team this season. The Warriors, however, appear a little thin on the bowling stocks and there will be a lot of dependency on Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Al-Amin Hossain.
Kusal Perera, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman and Dawid Malan are the big guns in the batting group. Kusal Perera is a very dangerous batsman in the T20 format and will be difficult to stop once he gets going. With the ball, Cumilla Warriors will turn to Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Al-Amin Hossain and Dasun Shanaka to take wickets and exert pressure on oppositions. Of the three, off-spinner Mujeeb is likely to be more effective in these conditions.
Dasun Shanaka (c), Yasir Ali, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Soumya Sarkar, Dawid Malan, Sabbir Rahman, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Abu Hider Rony, Sunzamul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Stiaan van Zyl, Kusal Perera, Fardeen Hasan, Sumon Khan, Ifran Hossain
Cumilla Warriors are being offered at odds of 7 on Bet365 to win the BPL 2019-20.
Dhaka Platoon (formerly known as Dhaka Dynamites) are the most successful team of the Bangladesh Premier League having won the tournament three times and finishing runners-up on two occasions. They won the first two editions of the tournament in 2012 and 2013 and have finished runners-up in the previous two editions. The Platoon secured their third title in 2016 and they are the only team to have qualified for the playoffs in every season. Last time, they barely made it through to the playoffs after finishing fourth on the leaderboard with six wins and as many losses. They registered convincing victories over Chittagong Vikings and Rangpur Riders in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 respectively before going down to Comilla Victorians in the final. Rony Talukdar was the leading run-scorer for Dhaka Platoon with 317 runs while Shakib Al Hasan topped the bowling charts with 23 wickets.
Dhaka Platoon have as many as four Pakistani internationals in their squad - batsman Asif Ali, fast bowler Wahab Riaz and all-rounders Shahid Afridi and Shadab Khan. Anamul Haque and Jaker Ali are the two specialist wicketkeepers in the side while locals Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque add more strength to the team's batting. Thisara Perera and captain Mashrafe Mortaza are also part of the Platoon's pace attack.
Tamim Iqbal has a century and six fifties to his name in T20Is and Dhaka Platoon will rely on this opening batsman to take them off to good starts each time. Asif Ali and Mominul Haque are two other key figures at the top while Thisara Perera can be destructive down the order. Shadab Khan, Wahab Riaz and Mashrafe Mortaza are the main weapons for the Platoon in their bowling arsenal. Teams will be wary of Shadab Khan who can cause problems for the batsmen with his leg-breaks.
Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Laurie Evans, Jaker Ali, Thisara Perera, Ariful Haque, Shahid Afridi, Mahedi Hasan, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Mahmud, Raqibul Hasan, Shuvagata Hom, Mominul Haque, Luis Reece, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan
Dhaka Platoon have been priced at 4.50 with Bet365 to win the BBL 07.
Khulna Titans, now Khulna Tigers, will continue their quest for their maiden BPL title this season. The team has reached the playoffs three times out of five and is yet to make an appearance in the final of the tournament. 2016 has been the most successful season for the team where they came third. Last year, the Tigers finished second from the bottom on the points table at the end of the league stage with just a couple of wins from twelve matches. They lost their first three fixtures and completed their dismal campaign with defeats in their last three matches. They played their last match against Dhaka Dynamites in which they suffered a six-wicket loss. Junaid Siddique scored the most runs for Khulna Tigers last season with 298 runs while Taijul Islam took the most wickets (13) for them.
Khulna Tigers will be captained by Bangladesh star batsman and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim. Rilee Rossouw and Najibullah Zadran are two other prominent names in this batting group apart from Mushfiqur. The Tigers have roped in three all-rounders for this season - Aminul Islam, Mehidy Hasan and South Africa's Robbie Frylinck. Mohammad Amir, Shafiul Islam and Wanindu Hasaranga are among the specialist bowlers in the squad.
Rilee Rossouw, Najibullah Zadran and captain Mushfiqur Rahim are going to be the key men for Khulna Tigers as far as their batting is concerned. Mushfiqur has loads of international experience under his belt and he has five half-centuries in T20Is. Mehidy Hasan is another valuable player. He can provide breakthroughs with his off-spin and can add some crucial runs with the bat down the order. Mohammad Amir and Shafiul Islam will be the main threats among the seamers.
Mushfiqur Rahim (c), Najmul Hossain Shanto, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rilee Rossouw, Shamsur Rahman, Robbie Frylinck, Aminul Islam, Mehidy Hasan, Mohammad Amir, Shafiul Islam, Shahidul Islam, Tanvir Islam, Aliss Islam, Saif Hassan, Wanindu Hasaranga, Najibullah Zadran
Bet365 is offering odds of 6 on Khulna Tigers to win this seventh edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Previously known as Rajshahi Kings, Rajshahi Royals went through to the playoffs in their first two BPL seasons in 2012 and 2013. They did not play the next season in 2015 and returned in 2016 in style, finishing runners-up - their best performance in the history of the tournament. The Royals, however, have been a bit under par since the previous two editions, ending up in the bottom-half of the points table. They came fifth in the league standings last time with six wins from twelve matches. They were inconsistent all through the tournament and narrowly missed out on the playoffs spot due to their inferior net run-rate to Dhaka Dynamites. Laurie Evans scored the most runs for Rajshahi Royals last season with 339 runs and Arafat Sunny claimed 16 wickets to finish as their best bowler.
Rajshahi Royals have a decent batting line-up with the likes of Hazratullah Zazai, Alok Kapali, Shoaib Malik, Liton Das and skipper Andre Russell. All-rounders Ravi Bopara, Farhad Reza and Mohammad Nawaz are also featuring on the team's roster. The Royals have recruited Abu Jayed, Mohammad Irfan and Kamrul Islam as the specialist fast bowlers while Taijul Islam and Minhajul Abedin Afridi join Mohammad Nawaz and Shoaib Malik in the spin department.
Rajshahi Royals will be counting on the likes of Liton Das, Hazratullah Zazai and Shoaib Malik to score the big runs for them at the top of the order. Andre Russell will be the danger man in the middle order due to his power-hitting. The West Indian is also a pretty handy bowler. Mohammad Irfan and Abu Jayed will be relied upon to take wickets in the powerplays while left-arm spinner Taijul Islam will have an important role to play in the middle overs.
Andre Russell (c), Hazratullah Zazai, Liton Das, Afif Hossain, Shoaib Malik, Ravi Bopara, Alok Kapali, Abu Jayed, Taijul Islam, Farhad Reza, Minhajul Abedin Afridi, Nahidul Islam, Irfan Sukkur, Mohammad Nawaz, Kamrul Islam, Mohammad Irfan
Rajshahi Royals are favorites with Bet365 at odds of 4 to win the BPL 2019-20.
Rangpur Riders, now renamed as Rangpur Rangers, are champions of the 2017-18 season when they outplayed Dhaka Dynamites in the final to win their first-ever BPL title. Their overall performance in the tournament has been pretty impressive having qualified for the playoffs on three occasions since making their debut in 2013. In the previous edition, the Rangers topped the standings at the end of the league round with eight wins and four defeats. They started off rather poorly with four losses in their first six matches before turning things around to win their next six fixtures on the bounce. They, however, lost both their qualifier encounters - against Comilla Victorians and Dhaka Dynamites. Rilee Rossouw was the tournament's best batsman last time having scored 558 runs while Mashrafe Mortaza was among the top bowlers with 22 wickets.
Rangpur Rangers will be led by Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in the BPL 07. Their batting unit consists of internationals Cameron Delport and Mohammad Shahzad in addition to the skipper himself along with locals Mohammad Naim, Jahurul Islam and Nadif Chowdhury. Tom Abell, Fazle Mahmud and Lewis Gregory are the other all-rounders in the squad. Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Pakistan's Junaid Khan make up Rangpur's formidable pace attack.
Rangpur Rangers will depend heavily on Mohammad Shahzad, Cameron Delport and Mohammad Nabi when it comes to batting. Shahzad is averaging over 30 and has a strike-rate of 134 in T20Is and the onus will be on him to provide the impetus to the team's innings. Mohammad Nabi is a key man with both bat and ball. The all-rounder is among the leading run-getters and wicket-takers for Afghanistan in T20Is. Pacemen Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Junaid Khan are the reliable bowling options in the squad.
Mohammad Nabi (c), Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Naim, Jahurul Islam, Fazle Mahmud, Lewis Gregory, Sanjit Saha, Junaid Khan, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Zakir Hasan, Tom Abell, Rishad Hossain, Cameron Delport, Arafat Sunny, Nadif Chowdhury
Bet365 is offering a high price of 11 on Rangpur Rangers to win the BPL 2019-20.
Sylhet Thunder, formerly known as Sylhet Sixers, are the only team in the tournament to have made the playoffs just once. Their best result came in the 2012–13 season where they reached the semi-finals after finishing second in the league standings. The Thunder ended up sixth on the points table last season with five wins and seven losses. They made a disappointing start to their campaign, suffering six defeats from their first eight matches. Their last league encounter came against Chittagong Vikings at Dhaka which they won quite convincingly by 29 runs. Nicholas Pooran was the leading run-getter for Sylhet Thunder with 379 runs while Taskin Ahmed finished as the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets.
Sylhet Thunder have a strong-looking top-order batting with the West Indian duo of Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher along with Mohammad Mithun in their ranks. Captain Mosaddek Hossain, Sherfane Rutherford and Sri Lanka's Jeevan Mendis are among the notable all-rounders in the squad while Shafiqullah Shafiq will serve as a reserve wicketkeeper. The Thunder, however, lack firepower in the bowling department and there will be a heavy reliance on Krishmar Santokie, Jeevan Mendis and Ebadot Hossain.
Johnson Charles is an attacking batsman and the experienced West Indian will be holding the key for Sylhet Thunder at the top of the batting order. His compatriot Andre Fletcher along with wicketkeeper Mohammad Mithun are two other quality batsmen in the side. In terms of bowling, the Thunder will have their hopes pinned on Krishmar Santokie, Ebadot Hossain and Sri Lanka international Jeevan Mendis who is likely to be more effective with his leg-spin in these conditions.
Mosaddek Hossain (c), Rony Talukdar, Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles, Mohammad Mithun, Shafiqullah Shafiq, Nayeem Hasan, Delwar Hossain, Krishmar Santokie, Nazmul Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Jeevan Mendis, Sohag Gazi, Nazmul Hossain Milon, Monir Hossain, Naveen-ul-Haq, Abdul Mazid, Sherfane Rutherford, Ruyel Miah
Sylhet Thunder are the underdogs with Bet365 at odds of 15 to win this seventh season of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Sylhet Thunder have a pretty ordinary record in the Bangladesh Premier League. They have failed to qualify for the playoffs in their previous three appearances and will likely struggle to make their place in the top four this season as well. Khulna Tigers are the only other team to have never reached the finals of the tournament and so wagering on them would be a huge risk. Rajshahi Royals are another team who we don't think will be able to go past the league stage of the BPL 07.
Cumilla Warriors, Dhaka Platoon, Rangpur Rangers and Chattogram Challengers all qualified for the playoffs last time and are expected to go a long way this time as well. Dhaka Platoon are the most successful and consistent team of the tournament. They have finished runners-up on the last two occasions and emerged champions in the season before that. Cumilla Warriors, Rangpur Rangers and Chattogram Challengers are all very strong contenders for the title, but we feel it is Dhaka Platoon who will triumph in this seventh edition of the BPL.
Back Dhaka Platoon to win the Bangladesh Premier League 2019-20 at 4.50 with Bet365.
