Rain has already affected a couple of matches in the Lanka Premier League and the same can be expected when Dambulla Vikings take on Jaffna Stallions in the fifth match of the Lanka Premier League. The match will be played on the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium and is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM local time.

Dambulla Vikings put a daunting 195-4 in their last match with most of the runs coming from Samit Patel and Dasun Shanaka. Dambulla Vikings bat deep but they’ll need runs from the top order to consistently win games. 

Niroshan Dickwella, Oshada Fernando and Upul Tharanga didn’t do much with the bat in their previous game and that will be a slight concern for Dambulla. With Oshada Fernando injured, players like Dickwella and Tharanga need to take up additional responsibility. 

A curtailed second inning meant that Dambula’s bowlers were not tested much. Lahiru Kumar, Anwar Ali, Samit Patel, Malinda Pushpakumara, and Lahiru Madushanka were decent but their actual form will be tested when they face a strong Jaffna Stallions batting.

Jaffna Stallions on the other hand cruised to a stellar 8 wicket win over Galle Gladiators in their first match. Avishka Fernando put up a show with the bat and smashed a classy 92. Shoaib Malik too looked solid in an unbeaten 27. 

On paper, their batting looks decent but their middle order hasn’t had a hit in the middle. Duanne Olivier and Wanindu Hasaranga were the pick of their bowlers. Kyle Abbott had an off day but he’s a decent bowler and can be expected to bounce back in the next match. Overall, both teams have a solid team but Jaffna looks a bit more balanced than Dambulla and are our favourites for the match.
